Load metadata from onpremise SQL

Iron Contributor

We already have an azure Relay set up where we can use our onpremise SQL data in azure, like a webservice.

I'm wondering if we could do something similair to get our data as metadata in SharePoint.

(for instance clientnames)

I know BCS exists, but it seems quite dead these days, and I'm wondering what the best approuch would be to realise something like this.

Well, it really depends on how do you want to add this metadata to SPO: Is just only one way integration or do you need two ways? Depending on your answer, the sync process you have to build (or buy) can be less or more complex
We only need one way (from SQL to SharePoint) at this point.

In that case, you could develop an OnPrem process or a Cloud one that just copy your SQL Data to a SPO list and reference that list from other lists or document libraries
thank you for your advice. I'll try and do it like that.
Just for my curiosity: what would you advice be if I needed two way?
