Hello,
We have a retention policy in place that keeps any deleted sites in a preservation hall for 7 years. However, our current experience is that we cannot delete any sites at all (in order to make it into the preservation hall).
Although this may be related to the retention policy, I would be surprised if that is intended behavior. Does anyone else have that problem?

@DanielaH When you apply a Retention on a Site, The Preservation library is created within the site and any docs deleted in the site is kept in the preservation library. Since the preservation on on you cannot delete the site.
The Site as such will not move to any preservation container.
This is an expected behaviour

Thanks for confirming that. Is there a way to 'retire' a site so it is no longer visible to users and stops sending notifications, until it is finally removed?
We are just finding it problematic that sites cannot be deleted and sit there for 7 years visible when they are no longer in use...

SolutionOnly way is remove the access for everyone from the site. This will not be visible to anyone in search or anywhere. what is the notification you are talking about. if they are workflow related stop the workflows.
