Today at the SharePoint Virtual Summit, we unveiled the latest innovations for SharePoint and OneDrive, including powerful integrations across Office 365, Windows and Azure.

Innovation in the cloud drives tremendous business value, and it delivers new capabilities to the IT professionals who work tirelessly to support, configure, administer, and secure their organizations' content and services.

We've built Office 365 with global scale, exceptional reliability, and support for compliance across every industry and geography. On top of intelligent security that keeps your service and content protected and private, we give you granular and dynamic controls so that you can manage access and distribution of your organization's sensitive information. We've equipped you with detailed activity and usage reports. And we've brought the innovations born in Office 365 to SharePoint Server with out-of-the-box capabilities and connected, hybrid experiences.

While our new user experiences are designed to be simpler, more intuitive, and more powerful we also believe administration should be just as simple, just as intuitive, and just as powerful, and to that, later this year we're introducing a completely revamped SharePoint Admin center that draws heavily on our modern principles. An administrative console designed to help IT achieve more, so their users can achieve more.

Home

The redesigned "Home" is designed to surface the most important information and quickly help you discover some of the most important information about the service, both its health, and how your organization is using SharePoint Online.

Site Management

Borrowing from the modern List experience in SharePoint Online, the new Site Management page promotes ease of use and flexibility - a one stop shop for viewing and managing some of the most important aspects of SharePoint Online sites.  You can now sort, filter, and discover information about your sites and their activity.

Sharing

At the foundation of SharePoint is sharing, and we're bringing sharing controls to the forefront of administration. Closely aligned with the OneDrive Admin Center, our sharing controls are designed to help your users make the most of their work all the while making it easy for you to control the flow of your organizations information.

Device Access

If you're complacent, you're likely not compliant - however, we believe compliance shouldn't get in the way of collaboration and over the past year have introduced several new conditional access policies across user, location, and device pivots to help you secure access to your information. With the upcoming SharePoint Admin Center, you can quickly access and use these policies to address your unique business needs.

Settings

We've taken the many settings available to you for SharePoint Online and grouped and isolated them to simplify how you manage some of the more discrete options for the service and sites.

Well, long overdue I can say! Looks nice, but timeframes are suspiciously missing from the post? :)

What about seeing site collection levels and being able to tell how much overall storage is being used (and how much total storage is available)? Also, the same question regarding resource allocation?

Would be so much easier of they were called Group Sites rather than "Team Sites (Groups)"

Brass Contributor

I understand the need to make things simpler. But I hope there is more than what I am seeing here. There are many setting missing from the old interface that still have value. SharePoint has a rich and complex set of capabilities. Albert Einstein is credited with saying "Everything should be made as simple as possible, but no simpler.”

What API's will be available (usage, site-information, ...) whenever the new SP Admin Center goes life in Q4 2017 ? Can you share a list of upcoming APIs ? (Graph API website does not show any details :(

thank you

Microsoft

@Marando Freeman Thank you for the feedback - we definitely have more in store for the upcoming refresh.  These illustrations are representative of both our early thinking and builds.  We aim to have parity when we release, in addition to more capabilities that have been commonly requested.

Brass Contributor

That's great news. Thanks for the reply.

Brass Contributor

Can you advise when the SP admin console will go to First Release and General Availability?

Brass Contributor

When can we try the preview?

Copper Contributor

Hi Bill, Fantastic looking :). Any time lines for Preview & GA

Copper Contributor

Any update on when this will be available?

Bronze Contributor

looks like now - for us at least - on full tenant target release. When visiting the Classic SharePoint Admin Center, a link on the top right appears that links to the new one. URL: https://tenant-admin.sharepoint.com/_layouts/15/online/AdminHome.aspx

Brass Contributor

I don't have access to the new sharepoint online admin center on my tenant.

Apart from Ivan, who else get the new experience?

Copper Contributor

Looking forward to the new admin center. Any updates on availability to first release users?

Copper Contributor

Same here, looking forward to this new admin center...

Brass Contributor

Any news on release progress on this?

Microsoft
There is a new link on the old SharePoint Admin portal. https://-admin.sharepoint.com/_layouts/15/online/AdminHome.aspx
Brass Contributor

I don't see any new link on my tenant... I guess it's rollI ing out slowly.

Brass Contributor

I was just able to click on the link for the new SharePoint Admin Center! It is great that you are able to see all the SharePoint Sites, including the ones that were created while creating a group!

Though, it is nice to be able to see all the sites, you can't see the "Group owners", can't assign permissions and can't save the view you are filtering. Let's hope that it will have all the other features the former admin center has.

Brass Contributor

Nice work!

In future is it possible to administer the search center of office 365/sharepoint online?

Mainly the management of custom result sources, to use them over the search API from sharepoint online in external apps.

Admin center preview showing up in my tenant, but not all site collections are showing regardless of filters chosen.  Any suggestions?

Just an update on this - all sites and groups are now showing up, including group sites for groups which have been deleted via exchange admin centre. Its really useful to see this.

Copper Contributor
When will the new admin center be available in the GCC?
Copper Contributor

Well I saw an announcement that this would be available for everyone starting in March. It's March 15th and I'm still waiting.

Brass Contributor

is this available yet? i still cannot see it.

@Sebastien Fouillade @Zohar Raz Can you provide guidance?  We have several customers unable to see the SharePoint Online admin center preview link within their Tenant.

Thank you for all the feedback on this thread. We've rolled out the SharePoint admin center preview to all people who opted in the Target Release (a.k.a. First Release). We will extend the roll out to the rest of the customers in April and it should be available to all customers by May. We received some great feedback in the initial roll out and are making a few minor tweaks before rolling it to the rest of the customers. Please stay tuned.

Thank you again for your support.

@Sebastien Fouillade - We have our three admins on Target Release / First Release and are still seeing the old SharePoint Admin Centre. Was there a preview 'opt-in' specifically for this feature or has something not rolled out correctly to us?

I was expecting to either be taken straight to the new SharePoint Admin Centre from the O365 Portal link, or to see a link somewhere on the old admin centre to go to the new one. Is that expectation correct?

Also tried the https://<tenant name>-admin.sharepoint.com/_layouts/15/online/AdminHome.aspx URL mentioned in the comments above but this just directs to the old admin centre.

@Alex Lush, the new SharePoint admin center preview is in Targeted/First Release for customers with Target Release setup at the tenant level, not at the user level, this is why you're not seeing it. The good news is we will be rolling to production soon so you will be able to see it then.  Thank you.

Brass Contributor

@Sebastien Fouillade - Thanks for the info. That explains things perfectly. Look forward to the roll out soon.

Brass Contributor

Maybe i am missing something here, but why would the admin center, which is only for SharePoint admins, need to be released at the user level?

THere are user features and there are administrative features. I wish there was a way to differentiate. what confuses me is that I get admin messages saying that this feature is coming, but since i am in the standard ring, i am unable to test it out. Granted, i can change the ring and all that, but as many people, i have inherited this tenant.

On a related note, is there a calendar of release dates for standard releases or is it just when its done its done?

Copper Contributor

@Sebastien Fouillade - As a Targeted/First release customer, how do I set up Target Release at the tenant level?

Thanks for asking @John Heck, you can set this up in the O365 admin center, under Settings | Organization profile | Release preferences.

Set it to: Targeted release for everyone

Note that this change will impact all features that are sent to targeted release, not just the SharePoint admin center preview.

Brass Contributor

@Sebastien FouilladeDo you know the date that this will be rolling out in Production?  I still don't see it, but is that because I have Targeted/First Release for specific users in the organization (not the entire Tenant)?

@Kevin Thomas, we've started rolling out to production over the weekend and will continue over the next two to three weeks. So depending on where your tenant sits in our roll out schedule you should see it soon. Thank you for asking.

Brass Contributor

That’s good news. Look forward to seeing the new experience

Iron Contributor

Any way to see where the tenant sites in the roll out schedule?  I still don't see the new admin center.

@John Warner, unfortunately not. This is calculated dynamically, we're half way through the roll out so you should see it very soon.

Iron Contributor

@Sebastien Fouillade  Thanks for the update, sir.  You know what would be a really cool feature?  If the admin center would put up a banner or some sort of notification when my tenant has updates.  Just saying... :)

@John Warner, I agree. Yes, it would be a cool feature :) Thank you. Please keep the suggestions coming.

Copper Contributor

@John Warner : my tenant got the update a couple of days ago. with suggested banner. :)
Not all features are ready yet, though.
