Filter resource custom fields by using Departments

Is filtering resource custom fields by using the Department functionality supported in Project Online? 

The goal is to only have to fill the resource fields that are relevant for the selected department, where the resource is part of.

I linked the resource custom fields to departments but nog filtering happens when I change the department of the resource (in the edit resource section).

Filtering project custom fields based on linking with departments is working as expected.
