Hello All,

Moving forward with the new sites in SharePoint Online, the way we customize that site has been changed as well.  First with Site Themes and now with Site Design which is currently rolling out to First Release tenants.  They are simple to use as they are incorporated into the Site creation menu, users will select the design they want from a pick list and then the actions are performed.

Site Design allows you store design and themes in a central Tenant wide location and apply actions like:

    1. Set Site theme

    1. Send emails

    1. Record info like URL

    1. Create lists

As well you can incorporate Site Scripts into your designs to take advantage of actions like:

    1. Setting a Site logo

    1. Adding navigation

    1. Triggering a Microsoft Flow

    1. Creating a new list

    1. Applying a theme

For more information on scripts see these resources Community Call , Site Design and Site Script Overview , Remote PnP Provisioning , Site Script Samples

Lastly to learn more about this previous released capability, please review the original release article, “New site theming options for SharePoint sites in Office 365.” And if you to go deeper into the topic from a custom perspective, please watch the SharePoint PnP developer webcast, “Custom themes with modern SharePoint sites;” in addition to documentation on creating and managing SharePoint site themes and use of the SharePoint theme generator tool.
