I've been working a great deal of late with the Desired Configuration Manager manaement pack for SMS 2003 - very useful tool for ensuring systems in the enterprise adhere to key configuration requirements - very flexible and configurable.  Current release allows full access to check settings in WMI, the file system, the regustry, the IIS metabase and Active Directory.  I was planning to do some writing about DCM here and came across a blog specifically devoted to this topic and maintained by the developer of DCM.  I've included that in my link list - feel free to post any questions here as well but that blog is an excellent resource for those working with DCM.
