client transition woes

Brass Contributor

After a company merge a customer is left with a bad situation.

They have deployed new windows images to all their computers without the old groove.exe. The new client (onedrive.exe) is installed instead. After the merge, all users have been migrated to the larger companys Office 365 tenant. In this tenant sharepoint is set to sync document libraries using the old client. They cannot start syncing their sites using the old client since it is not available, and the sync button in the library uses  grvopen://

Any suggestions?

Have they installed Office 2016 C2R? If this is the case, they should already have the latest version of Groove (which is part of latest Office). If not, they could download the standalone version (see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2903984/how-to-install-the-onedrive-for-business-sync-clien...).
