GPO seems to initiate Onedrive sync connection

Hi all,

We've upgraded to SharePoint 2019 and want to use the Onedrive sync client to sync documents from SharePoint sites on-premises. 

When deploying the GPO with the registry settings it seems the sync client is automatically started on multiple users devices. This causes lots of mysites to be created in the background. 

We have learned from Microsoft support that the mysites creation is by design and currently there is no way around that, but we want to limit the automatic sync connection. 

So only when a user actively syncs something should a connection be established. 

When setting the registry keys manually the connection is not established automatically. 

 

Does anyone know which setting is responsible for automatically connecting the sync client?
