I thought I saw when I launched the latest build of Word for iOS that you could now get thumbnails for pages in the doc. Is that correct? If so, how do you do that? Thanks!
I see that feature is mentioned in the what's new section of the software. It is not however mentioned in the Support article. I think the text might have been placed there in error and that feature did not release in version 2.5. I am following up with a colleague on the Word team for iOS. I will come back to you to confirm once I hear back. Staff
So as I thought this was placed there in error. The reference has been removed from the software. The feature is being worked on. I will come back to this thread when the feature releases to let you know. Regards, Staff
Thanks very much. Looking forward to the news on availability of the feature.
I am a beta user for Excel for iOS, by the way. Would be happy to be for Word and PowerPoint as well.
Hi Joseph, I am sure the Word and PowerPoint teams would love to have you as an Office Insider. Have you looked at the Office Insider information here. Have you already tried to join the Office Insider program for iPhone and iPad by requesting an invitation here and just not heard back?
Hi Joseph, Just to let you know that the Word thumbnail feature you were asking about shipped in the October 9th 2017 update. It was version 2.6. Regards, Stafford
Thank you. I have checked on both the iPhone and the iPad. There does not seem to be any way to enable page thumbnail view on either device. Can you please see if you can find out how to enable this? Thanks in advance.
Hi Joseph...in order to narrow our investigation what build version are you on? Have you updated to the latest build? I presume yes. Also what language of Office for iPad/iPhone are you using? Thanks Staff
Yes, I have latest build of iOS 11 on both iPhone 7 Plus and iPad Pro 12.9".
I am not sure how to tell which version of iOS Word (and Excel and Powerpoint) I have, but it is the latest version. I always download latest builds as soon as they are available. (I am also an Office365 subscriber if that helps.)
Version is English.
Hope this helps!
Hi Joseph, leave it with me. You can find your version by going to Home | settings | Scroll down to Word | Click on it. The version should appear on the about pane on the right hand side. It should be 2.7.
I just want to make sure that we are talking about the same app.
I am on my iPad. I have Word open. There is no Settings section that I see.
Any help would be appreciated.
Oh! Sorry! You mean iOS Settings. Apologies.
Yes, I am v2.7, (171106).
Hi Joseph, sorry for the delay...I had to get my hands on a physical device. Open a document with multiple pages and the chunky scroll bar should appear on the right of your document. Hold and place your finger firmly on that scroll bar on the right and move up and down to see the thumbnails of pages in the document. The thumbnails appear just to the left of the scroll bar. If this does not work then (while connected to the internet) I would suggest closing word and then opening it up again. Let me know how you go! Staff
Thanks very much for your continued help.
I tried on both iPad and on iPhone. Unfortunately, that scroll bar does not appear on either device. I tried holding, swiping, tapping ... I also looked to see if that is a setting somewhere but cannot find a setting to enable/disable scroll bar in the iOS app.
I would be happy to send a screenshot of what I see when I open a multiple page document if that helps.
Hi Joseph - so I think it is best to give feedback from within the app. The Dev team actively look at feedback in the app and act on it. But I am following up with them to see if it there are any issues with the devices you have. I will come back to this thread when I hear back. Sorry you are not able to see this. Hopefully we can get to the bottom of it. Staff
