Solution

This can be done centrally, via searching the audit log in the Office 365 Security & Compliance Center. Here is the list of SharePoint Online or OneDrive for Business synchronization activities that are available including

  • Downloaded files to computer
  • Downloaded file changes to compute

Auditing has to be turned on first for this to work.

There doesn't appear to be a way to track sync activities locally, though clicking the OneDrive icon in the system tray will say if syncing is up to date.
