Does anybody know if there is a structure behind the error codes that the Office Deployment Tool displays, if the deployment fails?
I've seen codes from 0-1008 (0) to 30088-1007.
Is there any logic behind a code number range or format, like SMTP error codes have?
I don't need advice on how to troubleshoot a deployment error - I'm just interested in whether the numbers and format have a structured meaning and if there is any public documentation on that.

Thanks Fred!
I'm sure the software developers structured some logic into them. It would be nice to understand that from a troubleshooting perspective if it's something they are happy to share publicly. Sets us down the right path for remediation when those installs don't go according to plan!

Hi Sonia,
Maybe you are running regarding your error codes from network location, can you tell what is your configuration file and what are the steps to running ?
You can folow this articles to help customize:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219423.aspx
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219422.aspx
Here is an example that you can use that it works with the download and configure switches to customize your instalation.

I wasn't looking to troubleshoot a particular error. I was asking if there was a logic to the error codes, like there are to smtp error codes for example.

Hi Sonia,
I didn't see complete documentation for office error codes, but here are some links i found related to that when tried to fix recent Slow Ring update issue
Quite old one, but at least it lists most common 30XXX Office setup error codes
Another old Wiki page is Office Error Code 30000-# to 30099-# - Part 3 of 4, you may find another parts from above page.
Anyway, if in brief the only system i found is what all error codes 0-XX and 30XXX-XX mean the same - "Something went wrong" with office installation/update/deinstallation. No other system in numbering.

Hi Shanell,
you may want to remove \ in front of D:, that might be stoping you,
Thanks,
Adri
