Removing users from an Office 365 Group

Good morning, 

I ran across the following issue when removing an Office 365 user from an Office 365 Group:

1. Removed user from the Group Using the Exchange Online EAC i.e. Groups -> Find Group - Under Memberships - Remove the user. Now, typically I'd remove the user using the linked SPO site

https://[organization].sharepoint.com/sites/sitename -> Members -> Remove

2. Using the EAC to remove the User from the Office 365 group did not remove the user from the linked SharePoint Site for that particular group. Furthermore, if I tried removing the user from the SharePoint site after removing them from the Group Membership - an error was shown. (Get-UnifiedGroupLinks showed that the user was not under the Group)

3. The only resolution was to - Add the Member back into the Office 365 Group using EAC and remove them from the linked SharePoint site i.e. https://[organization].sharepoint.com/sites/sitename -> Members -> Remove. This removed them from both the SPO site + Office 365 Group. 

I was hoping to receive some clarification on this. What is the best approach in removing users?

Hi Alok - removing a group member from either place should result in the person being removed from the Office 365 Group.  There is, however a sync lag that you might experience.  In your case, how soon after removing the user in EAC did you go to check the membership roster from SPO?
