Keep group creation restricted or open to all

Copper Contributor

Hi all,

We are about to implement Office 365 to about 6.000 employees.

We have a discussion wether or not we should leave it open for all users to create groups or we should restrict it to admins.

What are your recommendations?

Thank you!

Hi Christian,

Personally, I would let them open to all but with naming policies. https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Office-365-Groups-Naming-Policy-6ceca4d3-cad1-4532-9f0f-d46...

+1 @Ricardo Viana. In addition to naming policy, you can use Office 365 Groups expiration policy also to keep check on the unwanted groups.

Our recommendation is to enable self-service with the proper governance in place, see this Ignite presentation: Embrace Office 365 Groups: Overview and roadmap & blog post: Office 365 Groups at Microsoft Ignite 2017  or this blog post from one of our customer:
