Today we are pleased to announce the availability of the Whiteboard app for iOS, and the commercial preview of the Whiteboard app on the web. Building on the Whiteboard app for Windows 10 released in July, these releases move us closer to achieving our vision of a collaborative space for ideation that is accessible from any device and integrates seamlessly into the collaboration workflows teams already use.

Whether on Windows 10, iOS, or the web, Microsoft Whiteboard provides an infinite canvas where imagination has room to grow. On your Windows or iOS device, you can draw, type, add a sticky note or an image, stack things up, move them around. And from any device with an up-to-date web browser, you can now open and view your boards, and add and erase ink.

Whiteboard brings every member of a team together, whether they’re huddled around a wall-size touchscreen or working independently from their own laptops, tablets, or mobile devices.*  And because Whiteboard automatically saves your boards to the cloud, you can always pick up right where you left off, whenever, wherever – and now from a broader range of devices.

*The Microsoft Whiteboard apps for Windows 10 and iOS are available for all users; Microsoft Account or Office 365 account required. For commercial users, the Whiteboard web app (preview) makes their whiteboards accessible from other devices.

Nice.

Can the Whiteboard integrate to Microsoft Teams?

I hope to add the Whiteboard to our channels for share it with teams.
Today, I cannot find any information relate Microsoft Teams

Copper Contributor

Yes, I agree.  This needs to be integrated into Teams.

Iron Contributor

When will Android version be available?

Iron Contributor

Still waiting for Microsoft Teams integration.

Brass Contributor

I need the android version please?   Also i want to test it and draw something  and will you add keyboard typing in microsoft whiteboard?

Brass Contributor

It seems like the iOS app of Microsoft Whiteboard is not supporting conditional access (Intune). Is that on the roadmap?

Brass Contributor

Still about conditional access, could you make sure the app is added to the list of approved apps.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/conditional-access/technical-reference#appro...

Brass Contributor

"accessible from any device" - could you provide a timeframe for Android devices please?

Love Whiteboard app on Windows 10, but our business is exclusively Microsoft Surface and Samsung Android devices...  Avoided iOS at all *costs*.

Thanks

Brass Contributor

We also avoid Apple and use Android devices. Just in time, there´s an way to use it on MS Teams??

Brass Contributor

I notice a distinct lack of response re the Android question, but as we are getting rid of all iOS devices it is quite important to us. So when?

Microsoft

@Stephen Cupp @Nawzil Najeeb @Renato Pereira Whiteboard is now integrated with Teams meetings.

See here: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Office-365-Blog/Whiteboard-in-Teams-meetings-integration-ink-...

Is that the type of integration you were looking for?

Microsoft

@ANdrew Proudman @Mohamed Gamal @Kentrepid @Renato Pereira @Mark Marriott we're working to bring Whiteboard to all devices, including Android devices. Today, commercial customers can access the Whiteboard on Android via the Whiteboard web app that's currently in preview. We plan to roll it out to a broader audience later this year. We are also working on a native experience for Android, stay tuned.

Microsoft

@Aim Zaab thanks for the feedback. We're working on supporting conditional access (Intune) for iOS devices (including adding Whiteboard to the list of approved apps). We plan to have it available to customers in the upcoming months.

Hi. Is there a way to fix this? Whenever I try to draw, the bottom menu keeps switching. When it does that, I cannot draw on the board. I’m using the iPhone version of Microsoft WhiteBoard.

Brass Contributor

When will the Whiteboard application be available in GCC Tenants?  If it is already available, I cannot enabled it.  I have tried already.

If it will be enabled for GCC Tenants, does anyone have a link for the Roadmap?  I have not been able to find much information on it yet.

Microsoft

@dhood82 Thanks for your interest in bringing Whiteboard to GCC Tenants. GCC support is on our roadmap and we will be sharing timing in the coming months. We're also in the process of adding Whiteboard to the public Microsoft 365 roadmap.

Copper Contributor

Any update on the Android app.  The Webapp is ok, but lacks some key features.

Thanks

Copper Contributor

Android version Please!

still nothing regarding Android release? Web interface works, but having to use a browser that uses a lot of screen space for its bars makes it very unappealing to use

Copper Contributor

When is the Android app coming?

Brass Contributor

Still waiting... still no Android app...

Copper Contributor

April last year you said - - -  "we're working to bring Whiteboard to all devices, including Android devices." no sign of it, no news.

We use Windows and Android devices. access through whiteboard web doesn't work, and it is not included in Office 365 which we pay for.

So unfortunately we have to look for an alternative program.

Steel Contributor

What cloud app does Whiteboard fall under in Conditional Access?  It can't be specifically selected.

Copper Contributor

For our GCC customers like us, does Microsoft have any kind of a reference guide on what features are not available? We are learning to reach out more frequently when we see the generic "An error occurred while trying to save your settings." or something similar to check if this is supported in GCC. However, keeping track is tough as we generally refer to the MS roadmap guide but some items just don't show any updates.

Copper Contributor

Hi, @Itai Almog. Any update on GCC availability? Even a ballpark date would be appreciated.

Thanks,
J.C.

Copper Contributor

I too would like any update on this. It is really for our customers who are looking to use it within GCC. Even a rough estimate would help :).

Thank you!

Copper Contributor

Android app?

Copper Contributor

Web app functionality if really basic. Waiting for the Android app.

Brass Contributor

As I understand, the MS Whiteboard works as external app installed on Windows despite MS TEAM and cannot be used when you invite external users to your meeting.

Brass Contributor

Thanks for your article, @Itai Almog.

Just over a year ago you let us know that the team was working on bringing Whiteboard web client to a broader audience, as well as to release an Android client, estimating that you were targeting end of 2019 for such goals.

As of 6th May 2020, I believe, Whiteboard Web Client is still exclusive for commercial customers, and that there is no Android app published in the Google Play marketplace.

It would be great if you could share with us if those goals are still on the roadmap, and in that case, what's the current timeline estimation?

Got addicted to the Whiteboard app on my Surface Book 2, and now I want to be able to use it in all my devices! I'm sure you understand me!

Copper Contributor

Hi, how to update the version for MS whiteboarding if window store is not available?

Can it update it manually?

thanks

Ricky Su

Microsoft

@Ricky_Su Thanks for reaching out!

You can install Whiteboard using System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) using a downloaded appx from Store for Business. We highly recommend doing an online license type (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-store/acquire-apps-microsoft-store-for-business) and then deploying that via SCCM. Once installed, an online licensed appx will automatically sync with the store and keep updating.

If your users aren’t allowed to install from the store but you don’t block access to the store IPs/URLs, then you can use https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/client-management/mdm/policy-csp-applicationmanagement#appl... to allow updates without new installs.

If your users are fully blocked from accessing the store, you can download an offline licensed appx and manually deploy new versions each time the app is updated (about once a month).

Hope this helps :)

Copper Contributor

@Jasmin_Rashid thanks for the information.

There are still some concerns about the MS whiteboard.

1. MS Whiteboard having synchronization issues between IOS devices and PC, new input contexts did not saved and returned sync errors. Tried sign-in/sign out but did not get solved.

2. Is there a way to recover back the data because sync errors happened.

3. are all whiteboard data stored on user's one drive?

4. any material to show the common issues of MS Whitebaord and troubleshooting guideline.

Microsoft

@Ricky_Su Thanks for reaching out and sorry to hear you are having this issue. I will connect with you offline and have the team look into this for you.  Data is automatically saved in Azure cloud. Here are some useful links that should be helpful. Enable Microsoft Whiteboard and Microsoft Whiteboard Help

Thanks

My machine does not have touch screen..

In order to use Microsoft Whiteboard to do presentation, any recommended 3rd party to make a presentation? Sort like touch pad or touch panel with stylus?

Microsoft

@CalvynLee Thank you for reaching out, we don't have specific recommendations for devices or attachments. Please see below YouTube video link for some tips on how to use Whiteboard with mouse and keyboard, hope this might help :) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCsC99oHc90.

Microsoft

@jesusiniesta Thanks for reaching out and great to hear you are using Whiteboard so much :) - a feature rich Web app as well as an Android app is still indeed on the roadmap for later this year. Please stay tuned for further announcements on this!

Jasmin Rashid, Microsoft

Copper Contributor

@Jasmin_Rashid ,

I get to know that MS whiteboard will develop more rich features to be available on whiteboard web compare to app? do you have this on the roadmap?

We do survey which Mural whiteboard can do more compared to MS whiteboard and can invite external party to the whiteboard sessions.

thanks

Ricky Su

Microsoft

@Ricky_Su Thanks for reaching out and sharing your valuable feedback :) - a feature rich Web app is our most prioritized item on the Whiteboard roadmap followed by external/guest access!. We hope to make further announcements soon.

Jasmin Rashid, Microsoft

Brass Contributor

Still waiting for a native Android app, or improve the web app, which currently is still to basic.

Microsoft

@WYellow Thank you for reaching out and for your patience on waiting for the Android app - this is most certainly on the roadmap for the next few months please do stay tuned for further announcements. We will also be launching our new Web app very soon with the added capabilities of sticky notes and text. More to come and share very soon here on Tech community blog :)

Jasmin Rashid, Microsoft

Brass Contributor

Hi @Jasmin_Rashid, can you share roadmap link about Android app and also for External/guest access?

Microsoft

@Renato Pereira - Thanks for reaching out, we are in the process of updating our M365 Roadmap within the next few weeks so hope to share this very soon :)

Jasmin Rashid, Microsoft

Copper Contributor

Hi @Jasmin_Rashid, I'm also desperately waiting for Android version, I have many students who use android based devices and the web versión of whiteboard is too limited, do you have any idea when  it is going to be available?

Copper Contributor

Hi, we are still awaiting an android version as we are mainly virtual. Been a year and waiting please.

Copper Contributor

It's been even longer than a year.  I have given up on the Android app.  Really too bad since it hampers the deployment of the tool in our organization.

Daniel

Microsoft

@danielgrant0725 @JFizzell @Leorizo  Thank you for your continued patience on this - we are working on a timeline for the end of 2020 for the release of an Android app. You can also refer to our M365 Roadmap https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/roadmap for further updates on additional features that are coming to Whiteboard in the next coming months :)

Copper Contributor

Android app please.   Way overdue.

This is the year 2020 and there are more than 2.5 billion active Android devices.

Maybe you should support it?

Regards

Ulrich

Microsoft

@Ulrich Wilsenach Thank you for the feedback and we do indeed intend to support an Android app - its on our roadmap for later this year :) We appreciate our users' patience as we continue to develop and enhance Whiteboard where it is accessible to all.

Copper Contributor

Most of our team members use Android devices and we are waiting to install Whiteboard in Android. Any idea when the Android version will be released?
