I would like to see a breakdown of current licensing. This would help administrators understand how licences are being purchased, allocated and utilised. The goal is to optimise tenant expenditure and show ROI.

Would also help in tracking the items we've chosen to turn on/off at user level.
Hi John and Eileen, the goal of the content pack is to enable admins to better understand usage and adoption of Office 365 so that you can drive more targeted user training and communication that helps you transform how your organization communicates and collaborates. We're not planning to bring in additional licensing information at this point.
Hi Anne, Thanks for your reply. Part of the communication process is to financial stakeholders who wish to track effective spend. This is not an untypical request in most organisations. I understand your reply but this is disappointing.
I tried to customize a report following the steps at this link: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Customize-the-Office-365-Adoption-content-pack-9b76065f-29b... and the Tenant Office licensing is available as a field for filtering, but it did not filter the data when I was adding it to different reports. I agree with John that a page that is pre-built from the Adoption pack product team, providing this information would be great.

I agree with John. Admins need to be able to see which licenses have been assigned to which user.

That is great feedback.  Thanks for the scenarios.

John is absolutely correct that the customers need help to maximize our ROI in O365! Here is a concrete example with pic below: Report = Office Activations: Enabled vs Activated Users.  We have had a steady trend over the last year of wasting licenses. (a LOT of licenses) Using the adoption content pack and Power BI we tried to get to the bottom of WHO had these unactivated licenses assigned to them, but we could not get to that level of data.  We see we have a problem, but simply can't identify the accounts with this report.

I guess @Anne Michels what you are saying is that this level of data is not coming to this content pack and we need to use some tools like powershell to pull this data?  (still loving the content pack though!)

Hi Ashley,

the activiation information per individual user is already avaiable. The easiest way how to get this information is to use the usage reports in the admin center. Simply choose the "Activations" report from the dropdown at the top: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Office-365-Reports-in-the-Admin-Center-Microsoft-Office-act...

I'd suggest you export the data and then filter to 0 activations.

Thanks,

Anne
