I like emailing messages into Teams, but the emails just go into a single folder in the Files tab.   I would like to organize them within that folder automatically, by sender, subject, or whatever.   It doesn't appear possible.

My use case is for reports and even alerting messages.   I have a channel dedicated for support type things, and it would be very nice to route the messages from different monitoring systems into their own folders, while maintaining the same constant message thread up front for all to see.

Thanks!

AFAIK there no way you can route the mails sent to a channel to other folders than the default!

But within the mail folder itself is a SP library which means that colums can be added and different views can be created! For example a column with options for reports / alerts! Then create a view for each for sorting!

Unfortunately- for now this can only be done and viewed from sharepoint, BUT soon the files view in teams will support this as well

You might want to look into Flow here. I personally don't have an example but as new files get created in that folder you might be able to pick them up, parse them with flow, then move them to another folder based on the parse.

For sure, but wouldn't that mess up the linkage to the messages in Teams?

Good point lol... well, instead of moving them Flow could use the columns Adam spoke of for metadata and auto fill those out by parsing, figuring out how to parse the files will be the hard part thou :).

Now you're gettin' fancy.....  :p

You should be able to change the column due to the file name the mail has! That is if the mail got some differentiation between what type of mail it is! You have to play with conditions and some custom code!
No point doing it if it ain’t fancy!!
