What is the best way to set up a knowledge base that is accessible and editable via Teams?

Hello,

 

I am creating a resource for my company where everybody can go to access the information about best practices to complete a given task. There needs to be text, images, and videos and it all needs to be easily navigatable and searchable. Participants need to be able to ask questions about the content and some users will need to be able to easily add and edit content. 

 

What out of the box solutions are accessible to Teams users to best achieve this?

I believe you need to give and take on this one! Due to the nature of teams today all members have read/write on most stuff in a team! Given that it seems like you need more than a one pager for this ( wiki , onenote etc ) and use an entire channel for any particular how to!
Then you have conversations ( general channel conversation can be locked to owners only for writing )
Tab stream videos or YouTube videos to the channel and post about them in the general channel for example! Use the wiki for a faq or use Onenote for better search ability and enhancements! Wiki is simpler for mobile users though!
Have files which everyone can contribute to or use another library for files as cloud storage or as a library tab with read permissions for users, without messing with the default library permissions!

A Sharepoint Sites in tabs might end up being the ticket for us. I think we will need to have a tab for each lesson though, until I dive deeper into creating our Sharepoint SIte.
OneNote isn’t a bad solution for knowledge base. The biggest issue is lack of collaboration chat which you can technically post a link to the onenote and chat there.

Anyway OneNote has adequate searching, version history, sharing , coauth, support for embedding pictures and video etc.

Weaknesses are probabaly low customizable security

@thomasbates  I have created a similar thing for both technical support team and sales teams and I have found it easier to add files via sharepoint or one drive and set up a team and allow global access to  allow all members access.  As long as the naming convention is straight forward then I have found people tend not to have an issue. You could set up specific channels I guess with the relevant subject matter as the title and then add the relevant files and tabs.  This is the one thing I love about teams.

OneNote would work for almost everything, but it doesn't insert videos directly. We will be adding 3D files as well and OneNote won't support those either. SharePoint is a better solution for us in both of those regards.
