Will the wiki get support for URLs?  Currently when I type a URL, it does not create a hyperlink.

Yeap, Url does not works in the Wiki tab what I find understandable...

I far as I know, Wiki currently not supporting URL-s. However, you can enter link to another wiki page or specific section on wiki page within Teams.

Click the more icon next to the page name or section header (three dots). That will open up a menu that lets grab a shareable link ('Get link'). You can paste it into another wiki page, even if it's not in the same team or channel and it will work. Default link name is 'yourpagename in Wiki' (for example 'URL support in Wiki').

You can edit link name by deleting parts of it, for example you can get rid of "in Wiki" part. If you want to add anything or totally change link name you must enter your own text within default link text and after that delete everything which is not necessary. Editing link name is not working when you try to add anything at the end of link name, even if there is no spaces.

So it's the possibility to link together wiki pages and sections albeit very time consuming.

Hello,

Yes, I understand how to link to other wiki pages.  I posted another post about the issues with internal wiki links, but this post is in regards to URLs outside of MS Teams (i..e, http://www.microsoft.com).

Thank you,

Jeremy

This "feature" needs to be available asap. I don't know why that does not work? The wiki is not usable like this.

Is there any plan to add the functionality?

I created a Wiki with several working URLs. I did not type them however - pasted them from another doc. Don't know if that made a difference.

Thanks. This is great workaround!

This feature is now available. Just type URL and it will be converted to hyperlink.

I'm able to either type in www.microsoft.com and it creates the hyperlink or I can copy and paste the URL into a wiki without any problem.

Yes, straight URLs work... but what adding an html href tag for when that URL is a zilion characters long?

You should use Teams markdown for hyperlinks which now works in wiki:

[text-to-apper](zilion-characters-long-url)

Don't forget press space key at the end (it will trigger autoconvert).

NB! You can paste URL, but if you paste whole markdown it will not work

As of now I am able to enter URL-s in wiki by:

  1. Typing or pasting any URL starting with https:// or http:// and it will be automatically converted to hyperlink (downside: hyperlink display text and URL are same which is problem with long URL-s)
  2. Using Teams markdown for hyperlinks [text-to-display](url)

With markdown: don't forget press space at end to trigger conversion; you can paste URL part and it will work but if you paste whole markdown [Bing](https://bing.com) it will not work.

Everything everyone has stated so far is correct, but one thing that may not be clear is what you can do when you past a URL. Pasting a URL, as stated, will automatically create a link using the display the same as the URL address. But after pasting you can can edit the link display and doing so will not affect the pasted address. So again, past a URL and replace with what ever you want it to say. The result is a link with a friendly display name.

My workaround is:
- put some text in square brackets in the wiki, followed by an open bracket
- copy the link from your browser without the "h" at the start of the url
- then paste it in the wiki after the open bracket
- then type in the missing "h" in the url
- then type in the closed bracket, and hit spacebar

hmmm, this doesn't work when the url has "www" in it

The new workaround is copy the link from your browser without the "https://w"

Does this work for a particular version -- I have tried, but if I enter [click](https://myurl.com) & space.  Then go back and change the entire string to Click, I lose my link.

Nope, this is not working for me. Maybe it regressed at some point?

I checked and it still works on my MacOS Teams.

It only works if it recognises the link as a URL or URI.

This means that you can only link to something that already exists (so calling this feature a WIKI is laughable). In addition, you can't link AT ALL to your personal "wiki" since you are not offered any links when you click on the ellipsis.

I'm sure this feature was a useful thing to get an intern to do, but it certainly isn't an enterprise feature!
