Has anyone heard anything about Teams integrating or communicating with consumer Skype? Seems like a pretty obvious thing to me, since they supposedly are built on the same platform now. So can I for instance add a regular Skype user to my contact list in Teams?

And why not just rebrand Skype for Business, so that it becomes the new Skype client, but with added functionality on top of regular Skype, ie. the ability to login with an organizational account, etc.

For those who don’t want the slack-like features of Teams, the Teams client is way too bloated and in that case maybe the new Skype client would be better suited?

Nothing has been announced, but I agree its a likely feature to be added, just probably not the highest priority.

I think most people would want the Teams meeting experience, which isn't something that's in the consumer product.

This was on the roadmap and they cancelled it. Why I don't know, only thing i can figure they might be pushing skype to Teams but who knows. The actual uservoice got declined and I've had other Microsoft folks on the forums say this was cancelled. I'm not happy about it cause this was a big plus for moving to Teams to begin with that they could still contact skype people (member/vendors etc.) from one client, no more extra clients to download.

Odd stuff going on... hopefully someone from Microsoft can clarify? It seems really strange to me that their two biggest platforms for voice/chat/etc. can’t “talk” to each other - especially since they are built from the same (Azure) Fabric.

This part of their business, like others, needs some cleaning up, it seems.

It would appear that Microsoft is back to reviewing this request after previously declining it. If you haven't already upvoted it, please do so at https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/16958347-skype-integration-con...
