Hello,

Is there any best practice/guidance for deployment of Teams to an organisation and utilising its existing SharePoint document library structure?
SharePoint sites exist for different departments (Finance, Office Services, Business Development etc.), is there a suitable way to use these sites to add a 'Finance' team for example, and have the document library available in the Files tab?

I was also wondering about restricting the creation of public teams to administrators only. Is it possible to allow users to only create private teams. Is anyone already managing O365 groups for Teams this way?

You can “teamify” existing modern sharepoint sites! Either from the teams button or from teams when you create a team choose “from existing office 365 group”
It will then use this sp site but it will create folders in the default library so files today won’t be there! You either move them into these channel folders or you could also use the SharePoint library tab to show the entire library in that team! This can be done even if you don’t connect the existing site with teams! But then you have to make sure the members of the team have permissions to the library!

You can’t prevent people from creating public teams only! Either you restrict teams creation and let members of a group create both or don’t restrict at all! What you can do is restrict group creation and set up a workflow with teams creation with the graph and flow etc! You can here choose if only a private team can be provisioned!

Can't restrict the type of Teams currently. And for existing SP sites. It depends. Are these sites public? Or private to the Team that uses them? If they are existing Public sites people go to for files and information you would probably be best to create Private Teams for those dept. groups and then add tabs on the general channel to the "Public" facing doc libraries using the documents tab.

Could groupify the Sites if they are Private and still share out the Content and pages to external users without giving them access to the actual Team conversations as well. Probably need a bit more layout definition of how it's setup now.
