I agree. For some reason, the sound bite selected I find really irritating (is that the point?). And it sounds like the one in Google Hangouts (I think). A couple of choices would be really appreciated.

Yes, Please! The current notification sound is woefully inadequate. It is too soft and frequently goes unnoticed, resulting in missed messages. The ability to choose notification sounds, similar to Outlook or Skype for Business, is a critically missing feature.

Here's a reason to have multiple sound options. We just started using Office 365 and Teams at work. EVERYONE has the same notification sound so you never know if it's you getting an email or a message unless you drop everything and go check.... Hopefully they update that soon.

Count me as another vote for custom sound capability.
Also, i have heard others complaining about not getting alerted to incoming chats. I have this problem too. I think the issue is that when you are inside a particular team and channel, if you leave that chat window open and go to another window on your computer, it wont play a sound because that chat window is still open in the background. I can understand not playing the sound if im staring at that window (although for me personally, i would STILL want to play a sound for every incoming message - so i think even this should be an option i can turn on or off) - but to not play a sound just because the window is open in the background - no good. This has caused me to miss important messages already, and i know i cant be the only one.

YES! Custom sound choices. Even the ability to upload a sound file to assign to a contact, just for your account or globally.

I have to agree with this one. I get barraged with emails and phone calls and the soft mellow 2 tone alert here is just lost and ignored. this is a pretty basic feature to set the tone you want for an incoming message and we could do it with SfB readily enough. Please let us do this for Teams. We WANT to adopt so please don't make this harder than it has to be.

I work for a very small company - only 4 employees, and 5 contractors. I have to support Mac and PC users, so I typically have one laptop of each type open. On my PC, I get an audible notification when someone sends me a chat message in Teams or if they Like one of my messages. On my Mac, I only get a sound when someone Likes a message of mine, but no sound when someone chats with me. I need the chat notification much more than the Like notification - how can I set Teams on the Mac to issue a sound for a chat message?

@Catherine Davis I agree 100%. I have white noise in my office to prevent noise interference from other conversations while on phone calls and the Teams notification sound is in a decibel and tone range that is completely muted by the white noise. I have my PC volume at max level and never hear the notification tone. The notifications are simply too subtle. I know this SEEMS like an unimportant enhancement, however the sole purpose of choosing instant messaging over email communication is typically because you need a more timely response, so the notifications are in fact, a crucial function of the tool. Come on, @Microsoft Admin ! Don't you want your communications software to be the best? You have a LOT of competitors out there. :) And all the other Microsoft applications have the ability to customize notification sounds, including Skype for Business. So let's get Teams up to par!

The notification sound from SfB was better. I don't think this is a lot to ask for but I have to assume there are bigger fish to fry. The notification sound is on my "nice to have" list so I am not holding my breath.

We definitely need a way to change the sound or turn it off - I just got annoyed for an entire night by chat notifications on a 7x24 support situation.

I have to agree with this entire thread, since there's no way to customize the notification sound (or turn off notification sounds while leaving visual notifications unchanged) I have no choice but to turn notifications off entirely at the Android/OS level. We have 24x7 issues and I can't be getting woken up by notification sounds from other peoples' conversations unless I choose to allow that.
The Teams product people need to make it a priority to provide the possibility to change the notification sound, or turn off sounds. I have a "silence_halfsec.mp3" which would be my chosen notification sound.

@ think the real problem here is not turning the notifications on or off and quiet time does help. what I find is the ever so quiet "ding" of the new message is exceedingly hard to hear. I am in an open office and even with a headset for my phone (soft-phone) I barely hear the noise. I need to be able to customize the new message notification (preferably one sound for direct chat and another for channels) so that I can distinguish the alerts I need to pay attention to and the ones that I can look at later.
What is sad is we had this in communicator (predecessor to Skype for the younglings) and it disappeared with SfB. as that never really caught on as a office chat client it has not been an issue. After moving to Teams however 6 months ago I still find this to be one of 2 major complaints.

@Catherine Davis I would also find it helpful to have a persistent notification that pops up and must be dismissed. We switched to MS Teams from a proprietary messenger and most folks aren't even noticing their messages arriving -- especially if they've stepped away from their desks and upon their return there isn't anything really obvious to let them know they have a message waiting.
