Recently added Guest Users to a team. The Guest User is from a different MS Tenant. Both tenants are configured to allow Guest Users. Both tenants have coexistence mode set to Islands.
Within MS Teams - The status/presence of the Guest User is always "Unknown".
While the Guest is signed into the Team, the status/presence of all other Team Members is always "Unknown" and the Guest User cannot change his/her presence/status.
Thoughts?

@Matt Manley check this reply out from a previous thread with similar issue. It's not related to guest, but if status isn't showing for a tenant, it's probably due to islands, and it not being set for their Teams upgrade policy explicitly. See here for more info, and have them check their users, if using Islands.

@Chris Webb: Read through all the threads. There are some similarities in the symptoms.
To your question of presence/status within the tenants: Tenant A (mine) - Presence/status works as documented for all tenant users. Tenant B (clients) - Presence/status works as documented for all tenant users. Both Tenants have Org-wide Coexistence mode of Islands. Neither Tenant has specific Coexistence modes set at the user level.
I have seen no difference between browser behavior and client app behavior.
Yesterday, the symptom I was experiencing is that Tenant resident Team Members in Tenant B found Guest Members as "Status Unknown". Tenant A resident Guest Users signed into Tenant B Teams found ALL Team Members as "Status Unknown" and the Guest User could not alter their own status.
Today, the symptoms appear to have disappeared. Guest Statuses and the Guest's ability to manipulate their own status both are working as documented.
In the old days, we would close this issue with a resolution of "TWA".. (Trouble Went Away)...
My sense is that there is some propagation lag that affects the presence synchronization.
