Hi All. Has anyone else experienced this pop up? When a user is trying to use the search functionality, they are experiencing this pop up that says "Looks like there's a permissions setting preventing you from searching for these files. Talk to your IT admin about getting access to the right SharePoint folder."

Seems like someone cut off document library permission on the joined SharePoint site? 

But the weird thing is, this is the user searching his entire Teams, all of their teams including OneDrive. And no permissions were changed on the SharePoint site side of his sites. 

Mmm...is the user able to search document out of Teams Client...if that's the case, then the problem is in the client itself and you will need to open a support ticket

This is only happening in Teams for the user, both in the desktop and the web version. They can go to the SharePoint sites & his OneDrive, and search them fine. If the problem persists tomorrow, I will open a ticket with Microsoft and follow up with the resolution if we come to one.

Are you still experiencing the issue ?

Have you tried adding the group "everyone except external users" to site visitors (Read permissions) to the root site collection of your tenant ?
Please let me know if you have opened a ticket or not.

Dan, that is what we determined to be the issue, but we don't give end users root-level admin rights so are working around that right now. We do have a ticket open with Microsoft.

That error is indicative of the root site collection read permissions failure. To resolve this issue, the users  in question will need to be part of a group that has read permission in the SPO root collection site.
