Pasting a code snippet inside ticks doesn't format as a code snippet

Copper Contributor

Hi,

In teams if I type `foo` the output is formatted as a code snippet.

If instead of typing the code snippet, I paste the code snippet (i.e. `[ctrl+v]`) the value is not formatted as a code snippet. To get around this, I have to type `[ctrl+v][space]`[backspace] which seems like a bug.

Also, if I type two ticks (i.e. ``) and then paste code between the two ticks, it is also not formatted, even if I hit space.

Thanks!

Hi @chaws

Try this - when going to post the message

1.) Select format (A icon with brush) underneath
2.) Select ellipsis (...)
3.) Select Code Snippet (</>)
4.) Copy and paste in there
5.) Post

Hope that answers your question!

I see this as more of a workaround than a fix to the UX bug. Thanks for this info though!

No problem!

If you feel that it’s more of a bug with the desktop client then please feel free to raise it through one of these channels -

1. In a ticket to Microsoft
2. On the bug section at Uservoice here - https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/908686-bug-reports
3. Or I now believe you can send a report through the desktop client in the Help section.

Hope that answers your question
