Hi,

I'm currently administrator for an association (about 50 membres), and we've been using OneDrive for a while now, the files are already shared the way we want them to with different groups (10 members per group and no more than two or three groups per folder).

My question is :
Is there a way to use teams all whilst keeping the one drive, and when we share a file on teams that it is directly linked to one drive or that the file that is uploaded to SharePoint is directly synchronized with the version on OneDrive.

Seeing that we are not a very big association we can really only use one or the other (unless they are partially synchronized).

We only share documents for verification, but we would like the "verificatator" to only modify the original file and therefore not risking having duplicate files...

At the moment we are using OneDrive, and I want to keep the same interface for the users

Regards
Glenn

Hi @glennmckenna

Yes, in the Team go to File and the Open in SharePoint. This will open the SharePoint page. Select Sync and this will sync the files to the local machine via OneDrive.

Hope that answers your question. Let me know how you get on.

Best, Chris
So in other words I'm going to have to transfer everything to share point ?

And what about for the people who use OneDrive online ?
Onedrive is basically SharePoint. Teams uses SharePoint to store the files on an attached library. You can sync. Share and access this library exactly the same as you can OneDrive.

The difference comes on where your team member all have access to the shared location. It is always recommended to use SharePoint for your Team or shared files and onedrive for personal scenarios.

But to answer your question yes you would need to move your documents over to SharePoint library connected to the Team channel folders.

You could use flow to copy files around but they will just add complications and I don’t know your process flow enough to recommend how they might work.
Ok thanks for your answer

This might be slightly off subject but :

We currently have 1tb with OneDrive does SharePoint and OneDrive or how does it work for SharePoint space ?

Also we're planning on creating a public SharePoint site, that will be used for only public files. Limited people will be able to write to this, but : how can I be sure that people won't be able to access the "non-public" files ?
Hi @glennmckenna,

The Files tab in a Teams Channel uses SharePoint - and when you add a file here it goes into a SharePoint library, but you can sync that library to the local machine so the files are accessed like the ones in OneDrive. AFAIK, there is no way to synchronise a SharePoint Library with OneDrive online.

In Teams, you can still use OneDrive online to share files in conversations and private chats.

Hope that clarifies

Best, Chris

SharePoint space can be found here

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office365/servicedescriptions/sharepoint-online-service-description...

1Tb and 10Gb per person. So if you had 100 users that would be 2Tb in total. You can add additional storage space as required and a site collection can go up to 25Tb

To answer your second question, SharePoint sites are based on site permissions so it will be controlled from a permissions perspective.

Best, Chris
SPO does not provides the ability to create "public sites", users will need allways to authenticate in some way to be able to access files stored in SPO
So in other words (without counting the user storage) combining OneDrive and SharePoint I have 2tb ?

Also what is this 10gb per user for SharePoint ?
You get 1Tb per person for OneDrive storage.

For SharePoint you get 1Tb for SharePoint itself (for the whole organisation plus 10Gb for every user in the organisation so for example if you had a 100 users this would be 1Tb + (100 x 10Gb) = 2Tb total storage for SharePoint

OneDrive storage is in addition to SharePoint Storage.

Hope that clarifies!

Best, Chris
