Office 365 E3 --> Audioconferencing

Copper Contributor

Hey all,

In our company we're using MS Office 365 E3, which includes MS Teams. Sometimes we need to dial-in via phone in a meeting when we are on the move. In the basis E3 version no dial-in numbers are included, right? So my understanding is we need to buy the add-on "audioconferencing" for those employees, who will host meetings with the dial-in option. I saw the add-on costs $4.00/month/user. What exactly is included in this? Only the capability to use the dial-in function? Already toll-free dial-in numbers? Or do we need to top up the credit per month additionally? Or does even a client have to pay when he uses the dial-in function with us (that would not be the best option obviously)?

I am grateful for any support :)

Hi @LukasPEM

See articles for what is included

You will need to buy the AC add on. You do not have to top up the credit per month for audio conferencing. Usually the client will call in on a local number but yes, toll free numbers are available in certain countries.

Hope that answers your questions!

Thank you. Yes, this helps a lot. One more question:

Do you know (or anyone else) what the "Communications Credits" are then about?

(https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/what-are-communications-credits)

I do not exactly understand for what I might need them. Let's say I have the Office 365 E3 license plus the add-on Audioconferencing. Now I use Teams and have a call from Germany with one who is in the moment in the USA and he wanna use the dial-in function with a local number. Will it work without any additional costs?

Ah ok. Generally speaking, communication credits are used with individual voice plans that are added to phone system (I.e. domestic and international). If a user goes over the limits of their call plan then communication credits are used. AFAIK communication credits are currently billed on a subscription directly with Microsoft.

However, they are also apply to the scenarios as outlined in the article regarding Audio conferencing. Mainly for toll free calls and for dialling out. In 99% of cases partners I know have customers dial in on a local number and don't call out on meetings so they don't trigger the scenarios for communication credits.

Hope that clarifies

Thank you for your explanation! I guess that clarifies.

Best,

@LukasPEM is it really necessary to provide toll-free, in most countries it's entirely satisfactory to dial a national rate number. You'll also get the ability for people in your home country to be dialled back included.
