Does each team member have a individual address.  I know I can sent a email to the channel but no toast if I do.  

Please go to your Team's App on the device and follow the channel. Then you will get alert notifications with sound as well as a number of unread chats in the Icon, same as WhatsApp...

I believe Mark is looking to recieve notifications for emails sent to a channel. As of right now following the channel will not cause notifications to trigger even if you follow the channel (follow notifications only trigger for messages sent by people or bots right now).

I think I misunderstood you in my initial answer because I didnt notice the initial part of the conversation with the fact that you wanted notifications sent for emails that are pointed to channels...

 

I am sorry I am not very conversantin this area...  But just in case you coded members instead of channels, i guess you should get notifications...

 

Logically, i feel (I am not sure though) that a "channel" is a place where you post chats, upload documents and configure links to apps and other such stuff, and where access is defined by the access given via the "team" that owns the "channel".

 

Therefore, I guess I cannot expect a message to a channel to cause a notification to occur.   I feel, that your expectation of a channel is a "group" of some kind.  For that to happen, then there has to be a feature where we could define permissions to team members within a channel....    Isnt it...?

 

I am putting all this out purely off my head with my little understanding of what a channel is, in the hope that it will help you...!  Please excuse me.

 

Maybe,  Microsoft should plan the application out in a manner where this is clearly articulated for developers, so that you get a more concrete answer to your problem...

Still not receiving notifications on channels I am Following.

Still not getting a flash in the taskbar.

Still therefore missing the kind of important, time-sensitive messages which MS induced us to license Teams for.

Still not getting toasts, much less butters. (That's only half a joke... I THINK Toasts are the little popup messages in the corner like what Outlook does when you get a new email? Never explained. No connection to toast in any sense, so not intuitive.)

Ask employees for to do "Follow this Channel" is not a business option! They can miss some updates/info because not performed that...

Hi @Deleted, try to create a new channel to test alerts. I think tht due to a 'bug' on code, some old channels was created without that option.

 

I created a new one right now using Teams Windows app and try some test and after "follow" it, I was able to receive alerts on Windows App and mobile also.

How old is old? Because we only started using Teams in mid-October.

I have seen this too. I have not been able to pin down why, but it seems to be inconsistent. Even channels I follow don't get bolded when new items arrive. We're trying to integrate this with legacy apps that only send email notifications and the notification piece is key.

 

What I could really use is the ability to include @mentions in the email subject or content in order to ensure audible notifications. It appears this is not a feature (yet). Alternatively, I tried to build this with flow, but inserting @mentions from any external source appears to be impossible. This ONE THING would change my world.

While not ideal, I setup a Flow to notify the channel when a OneNote page is updated, solves the symptom tho not the disease.

I have followed several channels and turned on toast notifications for all options (Banners) and I am definitely not getting notifications for new conversations in that channel.  The new conversation doesn't even show up in my feed (should it?) All I get is the channel name being bolded.  Am I missing something?

My wonderful organization turned off FLOW, they are scared of that can be done without IT assistants.  By the way IT doesn't use teams :(

Today I created a channel and configured Jenkins connector for the channel. Then I set up a webhook in Jenkins and build status are showing as messages in the conversation tab as I expected. I follow the channel and in settings I have notifications set to "banner and email" for followed channels under messages. Problem is, I don't get any email notifications from this channel.

Just so I am clear - Are you receiving the desktop notifications and new entries in your activity feed but just not receiving emails? Or are you not receiving anything? Do you get emails for other actions like new chats or mentions?

Hi @Andrew Spiziri. I'm not running the Teams desktop app but using the web app. I'm getting entries in my activity feed from the Jenkins connector. I don't get an e-mail when mentioned by a colleague, but I do get a push notification on my phone (android) when mentioned, not from the connector.

 

But I'm not getting emails from either mentions or connectors, and it's really this email notification from the connector I need :)

Hi Andrew, a customer of mine does not see toast notifications for messages posted on channels (which he is following) nor the red badge on the taskbar icon. He sees regularly the red badge on the alert "bell" inside the app.

Also, he sees regularly the toast notification and the badge for private chats.

I have unfavorited 6 channels...What i am not seeing is when someone posts in 1 a notification letting me know it has been done...Is there a way to get that working?

Sorry but #1 isn't working at all for Android mobile app even if settings is set to Always and chat notification is enabled.  It's really not working.

Things we tried :

1- Uninstall and reinstall
2- Let MT opened on the phone no luck


I am thinking there could be an update to the capabilities listed here since this post was made in 2016. Rebecca, would you please review and confirm this is accurate, update it as needed and/or make additions to it?

We continue to have inconsistent experiences for notifications via TEAMS and emails and will need to, at least, have an answer for our users regarding how to work around this if we are ever going to get anyone to adopt it.

In an organization of 100-150 people, we have set all the Settings >> Notifications to Banner, except the 2 one at the bottom (Sounds and Email Frequency).

Even with this we are having random reports from users in 3-4 different geographical locations that they are not seeing a Banner popup when a meeting starts via Meet now from a channel. All MS Teams apps are up to date.

This is getting really frustrating and people are missing important meetings because of this.

Any solutions/workaround?

Meet Now's do not initiate a banner notification.  You will only see the video icon in the channel when the Meet Now has been started.

I would suggest scheduling the meeting and/or @mentioning the channel after joining to call attention to those who have favorited it or are following it.

The user has the ability to change the time window in their settings and can also turn on/off emails

I confirm I'm not on the latest Android build.  It's 6.0 and why should that make any difference ?  It's something that normally should work regardless of OS version or there's something I don't understand.  We are talking about notifications here not a new feature that the phone and OS can't do.

I just want to add that all MS apps on Android 6.0 isn't working. For instance Outlook app has the same sickness as Teams, no notifications whatsoever. On the other hand Messenger from Facebook works perfectly and many others without listing them all. How is that possible ?

I was referring to latest Teams client Android build. If you are on latest teams build and having issues support will need to collect your logs and if not on the latest they will ask you to update to latest as well.

Ok, however it's not because I don't want to be on the latest build but I can't  with OPPO R9s Plus we are stuck with Android 6.0.  I can't afford to change the phone because I need notifications.

We are MS Partner and we are losing here in Brazil, a business opportunity to take out Google Suite + Facebook Workplaces due to this 'stupid' MS limitations.

I can't believe that a company sized as MS cannot fix simple thing to its customers.

I was reading only this thread but sorry, you cannot force all users to have the latest Android version since it already is a lower price device and today is so common the "byod" experience.
Many employees will so, ask their manager "Hey, MS team are asking to have most updated device in order to avoid meetings and another alerts...".

Do we need reach this situation?
Just to complement, we are still using Android device with an old domain just to have an appointment with more than one alert (pop-up/email) set up.

If Facebook messenger or WhatsApp can send notifications as well, why MS app don't do the same?

I am truly sorry, but there is nothing on this planet that could convince me that a user should not receive a notification when he is added to a conversation/call/Meet Now. It doesn't make sense that if I want to engage a user, in any form, through a collaboration platform that TEAMS advertises it is, they should not see clear signs of my intention.

But I can accept your statement about the Meet Now part. Let's say that this is the way MS decided to implement this feature and I'll live with it.

 

BUT, also for direct calls from user to user, in about 15-20% of cases from a user pool of 150 people, our IT department get a lot of complaints of missed calls. Our users claim and have demonstrated that if person A calls person B directly on TEAMS, there is a 15-20% chance that no notification/banner/sound is seen/head by person B.

How can this be ?

Are we doing something horribly wrong?

Are we not getting TEAMS updates ?

Is TEAMS so early in it's infancy that it cannot handle simple user-to-user calls?

 

The case I am describing is a 3 geo-location company, connected by AD, who mostly run Windows 7 and 10, updated regularly. I have triggered numerous times MS TEAMS update.

If I do a MS TEAMS relog (sign-out, sign-in), then the issue seems to dissapear for 2-3 days. After that, it's back.

 

Can you share some good practices or recommendations? We are getting a lot of user frustration.

I am having a difficult time monitoring my Teams channel.  All I want is a sound and toast notification when a new message is posted in my channel.  This is something that I am monitoring constantly and want to respond, but Teams is not sending it.  

You have Microsoft Teams Version 1.1.00.26355 (64-bit). It was last updated on 9/28/18.

@Matt Small have you tried following the channel? If you click on the ellipse next to the channel name you can choose to follow it which means you will be notified every time a new message is posted there.

I did that just now.  It's weird because I used to get the notifications and then it stopped suddenly. Thank you for the response.

Are these expected behaviors still applicable? The original post was in 2016. Can you please provide an update to the expected notification behaviors in Teams?
try to configure workflow from sharepoint site, to send u an email whenever any changeg happen
