We only use Outlook now in our organization.

We are happy after initial tests and are preparing Microsoft Teams roll out. But we want to do it comprehensively and also have a company-wide solution for video calling our clients. Should we roll out MT (for internal communication) and Skype for Business (for videocalls with external clients) at the same time? Or do you propose a different solution?

External video calling within Microsoft Teams would solve our problem, wouldn't it?

Thanks

The Microsoft Teams meetings are (almost) the same as Skype for Business meetings and can be done externally as well. If you havent rolled either out, i'd recommend focusing on Teams as remember S4B will fully fold into Teams over the coming year.
Yes, If you use the Teams Meeting button in Outlook for meetings, you can invite anyone, even external users into Teams calls. however, last I checked you cannot chat with them on th calls, but you can talk and screen share etc. They are adding more Skype for Business features everyday and most of those features will be moved over by Q2, a lot are scheduled for end of Q1 so since your just now introducing it, I think Teams will be fine because rolling out both will be a headache.

I would go straight to Teams and use all the features.  Meetings within WebRTC Browsers are not there yet, so users will have to download the Teams app to join, but at least that is better than teaching users two different User Experiences.  Keep it simple with Teams only.

You can in fact join meetings anonymously(external users) via the web browser. Edge works for both audio and video. Chrome works for Audio only and a few others are audio only.
Good to know Edge is 100% as it should be :) I think for full video calling you'll need cross platform availability especially for external clients you'll have no idea what they will join on, so best to plan ahead and say Chrome browser or just download the App. Linux users will have to wait a while I understand. Feature request on uservoice at present.
The problem with having external users download the app is they have to have a login, it doesn't just anon. join with the client like you would expect it to. Hopefully they release it so the client can just connect with a basic anon connection when you choose that option and don't have a login.
Ops, I stand corrected, they fixed it so it DOES use the client to connect anon. Nice! Just tested it myself ;).
