Messages do not show in client - but ok online

We have rolled out microsoft teams in our company. In one instance (i hope) I have the problem that the client running on a win 7 machine does not show messages that are posted in a Team Channel. The Web-Client however shows the message when the user logs in on the same machine. I deinstalled the app, reinstalled it but the problem persists.

What is even stranger is that the message before and after is shown in the client interface. That happened with several messages posted in diverse channels. I have not heard other users having the same issue but I can of course not be sure.

Any thoughts?

Can you get the client logs?

See this article about how to get the logs.

Aha - thats how it works. Thanks. Attached the log files. Thanks for your time.

Hi @Raoul Dobal,

I found these error messages in your log

2017-08-11T05:01:56.738Z Err	chat-header: getAllLatestPeopleProfile - failed getting the data from people service

POST https://api.teams.skype.com/emea/beta/users/fetch?isMailAddress=false&enableGuest=false&skypeTeamsInfo=true

Not sure if this is related, but it looks like Teams is struggling to find user profile data.

Strangely enough I just reproduced a similar error when I replied to a meeting.

But I'm not finding the same messages in your log.

Are you finding the same issue when you use the browser version of Teams? If the browser always works then you could also have a look at the background process logs for Teams.

Hello Pieter

No - in the browser version everything is fine. Maybe it is completely unrelated, but when you mentioned user profile data, I have noticed that some of the user-photos I uploaded in the azure ID are not displayed in teams. I had not put too much thought into this, but maybe there is something "iffy" with the profiles.

I have attached the other logs you mentioned. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Hi @Raoul Dobal,

There is less in that log. There are some errors but not sure if they are related.

I have started to collect error messages that I have found in Teams.

Initially I would look at the user profiles.

Could it be that the messages that don't show up are directed at people who haven't logged in yet? Or something like that.

Good morning Pieter,

Raoul's enjoying his holidays so i'll try to answer.

That's not the case, no. Afaik the messages have posted in a teams channel and the person who didn't see them has been online all the time.

There's one difference though, the sender and the recipient are members of different domains (but in the same organization). Can't imagine this being a problem, but stranger things already happened ...

I'm having this same issue.. I set up a Channel, have been using it for communications, but as of today:

1) People can still reply to my posts or @ me.

2) I get a notification in the app and can see the messages in the notification preview

3) I cannot see the message in the channel within the app

4) I can see the message if I log into teams via a browser

Was this issue resolved?

I have not had the effect lately.
