My organisation is testing Teams with some user scenarios prior to adoption. We had a trial meeting with three people, one the organiser who set it up and the other 2 as invited participants. One of the two participants had no problem joining the meeting, the other one joined it, but appeared as a guest. Her name was shown in the list of attendees with "guest" under it, and she was also still listed in the list of participants waiting to join the meeting. She used the join meeting link in the invitation email to join it.

During the meeting she left and rejoined 3 times and each time the result was the same. This user was on an Mac, the other two were using a Win10 desktop PC and an iPad. All three were using the app, but for the one with the problem we also tried using a browser session, with the same result.

Hi!

A few questions -

For the guest user
1.) Is she part of your organisation
2.) Is she logging in with the org domain or something like outlook.com/gmail.com
3.) Is she licenced for Teams?

Best, Chris
Thanks for your reply. The user is part of the organisation, she is logging in with her organisation email address and yes, she is licensed.
Try: What if you try joining the meeting from within teams and not the mail meeting link! In meetings click join in the meeting window! Does this do any difference?
Adam
No, it does the same.
Hi!

A few more questions -

1.) Are you testing in a free Teams tenant?
2.) Is her domain different from the other two which work correctly?
3.) Have you logged into Azure Portal and seen how many entries there are for her?

Best, Chris
1. No, we are using the version that comes with our Office 365 subscription.
2. We are all on the same domain, but none of the devices/computers are domain members.
3. No, we have never used it.
It’s gotta be a case where the browser / login used is a personal msa account that is using the same email address. Have them use the meeting link copy it start inorovate browser and then join. Make sure to use domain login and if promoted make sure work account is selected.

Another way test going to Teams.microsoft.com as that account and once in check the top right corner left of picture is there a drop down and is this user show multiple tenants listed.
Much appreciated, thank you. I will contact the user tomorrow.
