I had an issue with Teams launching fully. Probably it was unable to connect. I rebooted twice and that didn't fix the problem. I noticed many Teams entries in Credential Manager and when I removed all of them, Teams was able to launch properly.

I don't know why there are many entries in there. Teams auto starts and it tries to connect before I have a chance to manually vpn into my work's network. So maybe that's the reason for the multiple credential entries?

I am going to disable the auto start feature.

Hi!
For what reasons do you need vpn with teams?

Please explain what happens in teams..does this happen every time after login? Why do you need vpn regarding teams?

They probably need vpn to access internal systems, not for Teams, but it gets into mix. I have also noticed that vpn users run into sign in problems more often at our org. There are some critical systems that can only be accessed via vpn. And i think while network is switching back and forth Office 365 apps sometimes go bonkers. It is a known fact that you can't set a location field in Skype for Business while on vpn. We often have Outlook and Skype constantly showing sign in window until you clear the credentials. I don't see such issues on my PC as i almost don't use vpn. Office 365 needs to work more gracefully with dynamic network changes i guess.

Yes, expected that was the reason for VPN :) I don't think MS will work long late hours about this though, due to cloud technology is much about not having to use VPN :)

On the same topic, Why does Teams need to store so many credentials? I am a member or owner of only 5 teams on the same tenant and I have 25 recent entries in Credential Manager. Does anyone know the correlation?

I've asked the same question repeatedly, but got no answer. My best guess is that it's because it simply connects to way too many services on the backend, to handle things such as presence and IM, calls, free/busy lookups and OOO, file access, etc. Luckily, you can use PowerShell to clean stored credential entries (sample module: https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcenter/PowerShell-Credentials-d44c3cde)
