Hi,

When creating new MS Teams an underlying Sharepoint site is automatically created.

However, we already have a SharePoint structure with a hub (communication site) and several team sites below. We would like the Teams SharePoints to be part of our existing SharePoint structure - instead of them just floating around by themselves. How do we do this?

/Anne

You can (optionally) delete your default Teams Connected (Group Connected) SharePoint site first:

https://support.office.com/en-us/article/delete-a-sharepoint-site-or-subsite-bc37b743-0cef-475e-9a8c...

And then connect your existing site as described in the article below:

https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/skypehybridguy/2017/10/28/microsoft-teams-use-an-existing-sharep...

Hope this helps...

Not sure if it's a good idea to delete the SharePoint site first since it's required for Teams to work...what I would do here is to take a look at the Groupify concept that allows you to connect an existing site (this is not supported for the site types we have in SPO) to a Group and then create a Team using the exiting Group for membership and to re-use the other Group components
Yup what Carlos said. However I don’t think it’s possible to groupify yet, as I don’t recall it being released? Also comm sites can’t be groupified either I think only classic siTes.

Hi! The link you provided regarding this topic now says that this is no longer a valid process. What is the new process for taking my existing Sharepoint and adding it to my new Teams channel?

I have the same issue. Any practicable solution yet?

Hopefully this helps:  Was able to connect existing O365 SharePoint site to new Teams Group by clicking on 'Add cloud storage' - Select 'SharePoint' - Relevant sites - displayed list of existing SharePoint sites - Selected the desired existing SharePoint site, clicked Next and now the desired SharePoint site displays in my new Teams Group.

I acctually have the same situation, but I would like to create a Team in MS Teams from existing SharePoint Modern site. We have a lot of sites already in use. Have you find a easy way to do that?

Hi @tinca13

There is currently a uservoice on this to be able to have this native functionality, but it's on the backlog

https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/16930312-create-team-from-exis...

I think you would need to consider the workarounds suggested in this article. I would include a rip and replace of the SharePoint site if you really need this functionality. There just isn't a simple way to do this at present.

Best, Chris
