I want to link a non-personal OneDrive account to our new Microsoft Teams channel. I clicked the "+" sign in hopes I could just add the OneDrive link there. However, OneDrive was not an option. Any other suggestions? Thank you in advance.

You should be able to use the website tab to link to the url for the OneDrive site you are interested in accessing as a work around. The tab should use the permissions of whoever is accessing the Teams site to determine what view they have of the OneDrive.
Solution
The approach to add personal OneDrive using the Website is not going to work (just tested)...for now Teams does not provide a way to integrate personal OneDrive.

To link a non-personal (work?) Onedrive, you would use the SharePoint Link that the OneDrive sits at.

For personal OneDrives, you could create a Folder, Share this with the team name, giving them read/right access, copy the link and add it as a website tab within teams.

Just tested this with a test team -the test folder and  the default "Shared with Everyone" both show.

I have previously collaborated with a group by sharing a folder linked to my work account, which sits under my.sharepoint.com.

I have just come across Teams and created a Team (site?) for the same group. I would prefer to access the files using the existing folder under my.sharepoint.com. When I go to files -> + add cloud storage ->select sharepoint, I can only see my works intranet and the Team sharepoint that is created on creating the Team site.

I have shared the folder under my.sharepoint.com with the Team Group and then tried adding the full URL of either the folder, or the root of my.sharepoint.com location, and also tried generating a link under 'Share' in my.sharepoint and whilst all of these seem to detect the folder (see first picture), on the next pop-up I cannot select the sharepoint folder shown or click next (see second picture).

When I try the website tab suggestion I get a message that says, "this site couldn't load in our web app", so effectively all I get is a link to login to that folder.

What am I doing different to James' suggestion above. Or any other suggestions of how to get this to work without copying everything into the Team sharepoint folder (can this be synchronised with my desktop even though I currently need ODB to sync the work intranet?).

On a general note, an external or guest user is currently not supported by OneDrive.  As per Microsoft, there are certain restrictions and limitations while handling your media accounts.

You can get more info here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/3125202/restrictions-and-limitations-when-you-sync-files-an....

Hope this helps.

Chris did you ever figure out a way to add this. I am trying to add a onedrive for business shared file account to preserve how the permissions are setup.

thanks,
Cris

The only way seems to be by adding a web tab in Teams and adding the Onedrive folder URL. I did manage to diagnose why some people say that displays Onedrive directly in Teams whilst I kept getting the "cannot display this webpage" message - it comes down to whether you use the standalone Teams app (which works the way I assume most users would want it to) or whether you use the web version of Teams (which gives the error message and requires you to click the link to open in a new window, which is horribly clunky).

This originally was what I thought I wanted to do.  I am/was a freelancer and then had another freelancer partner with me so created a teams site.

At first I wanted to just link my OneDrive for Business to give them access to relevant files etc.

I then read this article

https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Should-I-save-my-documents-to-OneDrive-for-Business-or-a-te...

This clarified my approach (for my situation anyway ;) )

OneDrive for business is like my old work drive (exclusive to me)  and then the Sharepoint-Teams folder is the network drive accessible by the whole team (all 2 of us now!).

So the approach I took was to copy over all the folders & files I wanted to share into the sharepoint that is accessible by the 2 of us.  Then on my onedrive (exclusive to me) is the other work stuff that I didnt want to share.

Though one thing I am struggling with is I wanted to find the right way to show this in a channel e.g. I had a specific client folder that I want to create a channel from but cant find a way to do that.

Any suggestions?
