Is anyone aware of known issues/workarounds with linking items in Teams (i.e. that is, creating links in Teams to link directly to a channel, a Wiki/Files/Planner tab, a folder/file, etc.)? Examples below and FYI: this probably has to do with the particular situation I am in – we are using it somewhat “externally” so we have most of our users are actually set up as “guests” – but they also have their own organizational accounts. I tested with our guests, and Teams appears to have particular issues with these “guest” accounts/ get confused about switching organizations & associated permissions, and especially so if the users were NOT originally signed in when he/she clicked on the link (but of course, signed in thereafter to view). Also, it seems that certain items (folders and files) worked better than tabs, and that the Desktop and Web version also worked differently (but hard to tell if either was better or not, about equal across different scenarios). The below examples seem to work in our own environment, but we need them to work with our “guests” – who are the majority of the users.

Any thoughts appreciated!

Examples:

1) "Wiki” tab link -- brings me to the “Conversations” tab -->

(Even when already signed in, in the Desktop version)

2) "Wiki” tab link + linked to certain section in the Wiki tab (e.g. Section 10) -->

a) Web version: gives me false error message “You’ll need permissions to access this team or channel. Try contacting the team owner or admin.” But I do actually have access & can navigate to the Wiki tab once I exit the error message (Even when was already signed in at first)

b) Desktop version: also gives above error message, unless I was already signed in at the time of clicking on the link, then it works successfully.

3) “Files” tab link-->

Opens straight into the Web version (no Desktop option), but if the user was not already signed in, always opens automatically into the user’s “home” Teams environment & the general landing page “Join/Create a Team” in that environment (not the guest account)

However, if signed in, could get through to Team but only get to the “Conversations” tab.

4) “Folder” (within the Files tab) link-->

Opens straight into the Web version (no Desktop option), but if the user was not already signed in, always opens automatically into the user’s “home” Teams environment & the general landing page “Join/Create a Team” in that environment (not the guest account)

5) “Planner” tab link -->

a) Web version: gives me false error message “You’ll need permissions to access this team or channel. Try contacting the team owner or admin.” But I do actually have access & can navigate to the Planner tab once I exit the error message (Even when was already signed in at first)

b) Desktop version: does nothing (Even when was already signed in at first)

Sorry so late on the reply, my email notifications for the tech community were going to my "Other" folder ;-).

Anyways, interesting scenarios you are presenting here.... Were you able to get some of these issues/questions sorted? We are in early stages of exploring external use for Teams so I have not come across some of the issues you are seeing. Is your objective to use Wiki as the dedicated location for links or was this just part of your test? If you are still experiencing issues I can test back in our environment to see if we are seeing the same behaviors and let you know.
