We as a team have started using Teams and generally find it to be quite helpful for us to communicate as we are not all in the same location. There one big problem is with the Windows Application, if you change the status from Available to Do not disturb, it is delayed in changing and it will only stay for a short time before changing itself back to Available. Nearly every day I am in an Online meeting with someone and I have to Quit teams so that the Pop-up notifications do not show up while I am presenting. If I run Teams in a Browser or on my iPad, it seems to retain that setting. I have read this in several other locations and there are not any definite answers for this.
Any input as to if we are doing something wrong or does this just not work?
Do you have this in your chat tab at the top instead of just favorites? If not then you do not have the latest updates which are coming that address the presence issues. Once you have that, status changes are instant, and they do a much better job of staying after you set them. Keep in mind once you get these updates, it integrates heavily into your calendar so your calendar appointments will change status based on type (Out of office, busy, meeting etc. ) Pretty sure the update is still not 100% rolled out so if you don't have it you should soon!
Sorry should have been more clear. Those options show when an update happens to your tenant. It’s a back end update that’s rolling out. Soon as you see that you will get a much better presence experience that actually works and bring the best of Skype for business presence and adds in new out of office functionality.
