Is it possible for a host to start a meeting from the phone?  It seems the only way to start a meeting is to use the app.

How do you mean? A normal teams meeting? Just click join in the teams app

@adam deltingerHow would I start the meeting if I don't have access to the teams app?  I want to be able to start the meeting using say the # or * key on my phone.  

If you dial in to a meeting, are you stuck in the lobby? What happens?

@adam deltinger  We have a test policy that bypasses the lobby so we don't get stuck in the lobby but the meeting doesn't actually start until the organizer goes into Teams and starts the meeting.  The organizer should be able to start the meeting when from the call (audio only/ no access to the app).

Solution
I believe an authenticated user needs to be present! With dial in you are not!

Have you tried setting the “automatically admit people” to everyone ? Don’t know if this makes a difference but this says no authenticated user need to be present

@adam deltingerWe made that setting change.  The participants were able to automatically join the meeting without having to wait in the lobby.  But had no option to start the meeting from the call.  I had to start the meeting from Teams.  There should be an option to start the meeting from the call.

 
Have you set the “allow anonymous people to start a meeting” to true? This should go for dial in users too

@adam deltinger  Yes we have that setting enabled

Is it in the global policy? When did you set it?

@adam deltinger It is in a test policy that we created.  It was set 2 days ago.

Download the Teams Mobile app and use that? I don't think it's possible to start a meeting from dial in. Usually the meetings run forever on the dial in number if you are using your own audio conferencing number.

3. If you are the organizer press *

4. Enter the pin you were sent when the service welcomed you to the service followed by #

5. Call starts.

@Steven Collier   Thanks.  I am going to give this a try this morning.  I will let you know how it works out.

@Steven Collier It is working.  I think it took between 24-48 hours for the policy to actually hit.  I didn't need to do anything with the lobby turned off.  Once I joined, the meeting started.  Can't believe how long it took for it take affect.
