Hide / remove inactive people from search results?

When someone leaves our company their account isn't deleted and instead the sign-in is disabled and O365 licences are taken away.

However, Teams seems oblivious to the fact that this user is disabled, and will happily show him / her in the search results.

Is there a way to remove such a user or, at least, indicate in Teams that they are no longer an active user?

AFAIK, this is not yet possible! Teams don't look at the GAL attributes so hide from addresslist won't work! There is a uservoice for this: https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/31213111-add-team-member-searc... Adam
Look into Search scopes. It basically uses Exchange Address list to determine what can be searched.
