Our business users just reported to us a use case we have not considered around document collaboration/co authoring within the Teams UI.  Our customers are relying heavily in Microsoft Office document co-authoring with the Conversation functionality that Microsoft Teams can add.  As we expand the user of Teams in our company  we are finding the need of users belonging to different Microsoft Teams/Channels in collaborating/co author right within a TEAM UI (not separately through office online or through the Office client), that way you get the conversation options and have that dialog captured in TEAMS.  Hope this scenario makes sense.  We are wondering someone knows of a possible new functionality that can assist with this business requirement (i.e guest/limited permission type so that a user in TEAM A can only work on a file(s) available on another TEAM (B).  Thanks!

Let's see what Microsoft announces at Ignite, but for now I'm not aware of a new Teams feature covering that scenario
Yeah we'll see next week, however I do know that @mention inside of office documents is coming and that might play out to cover some of that scenario. I'm not sure if it's e-mail @mentions or how exactly it works, but I know we'll be able to @mention people in the other office applications similar to Outlook.
Not sure how @mention will work here :-)...will I be able to mention from Office some one that is not in my Team and hence cannot access to the documents there? If the answer is Yes, then more questions will come such as if this @mention will imply that I'm sharing the document with people that cannot access it (I hope that's not the case and we will be able to control this)...and If I'm sharing the document...am I sharing with edit or view permissions ;-)? Curious to see how this is going to work in this scenario
Yeah good points. I’m curious myself. Cause cross team things are always confusing for users when it comes to permissions and files. Once the files get Sharepoint UI love it’ll be easier for them to just share files with others outside the team. Can’t wait for next week!

I tend to advise Teams users wanting to share a file with someone outside the Team to use Open in Word/Excel/Ppt Online and use the share button there, but it is a bit more clumsy that it needs to be.

Thank you all. The big draw in using TEAMs in our case has been the UI integration. Users like the ability of staying in TEAMs and not having to go use another application for having the conversation integration they get (should all users be part of that team/channel. Will then wait for Ignite announcements, hopefully they have also to say about having a private channel within TEAMs.

It's a few steps, but I showed a coworker how to add another colleague's edit permissions to a Teams file or folder in the SharePoint sharing settings. It will only get better with more SP UI in Teams. Missed most of the Teams announcements at Ignite earlier today, but catching up at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Microsoft-Teams-Blog/What-s-new-in-Teams-Ignite-Edition/ba-p/...
