Hi

 

i did the upgrade to teams, but its to buggy, so i want users to give a choice to use skype or teams

also our skype contacts are not visible in teams 

 

but seems i am unable to change to Coexistence mode , whats wrong? it this normal?

also unable to change it for a specific user

I noticed this on a new tenant yesterday, could not set the Coexistence mode. Are you all SfB Online users in the past? If so, can you access the legacy portal?

yes, was online, and yes , i can access legacy portal

also with powershell to change "Coexistence mode" is not possible, same issue

 

seems some customers are rolled in to this, some not, unable to change it

 

Yeah Microsoft has been sending out notices that they will be doing this for some smaller tenants I've been seeing posted recently. Yours probably was part of that, it's only a matter of time before they get around to everyone.
They shouldn't have done that, our Skype for business external contactd are not visible anymore in teams , we all lost them... We can't open Skype anymore to export them

yes, same kind of messages, but i did upgrade manually about 2 months ago, because it was documented that you can choose "Coexistence mode"

but i was never able to...

 

so all our users lost all external contacts from skype

 

verry disapointing

External Skype contacts will be migrated to Teams at some point soon, I imagine they will catch you up.

 

 

well, i asked for a roll back on our account, or at least give us the choice for islands mode

so we can start skype again, and export contacts

 

 

I would be interested to know what response you get. 

I don't recall upgrading and the first I knew of it, was when a user complained that they were redirected to Teams and couldn't open the SfB app.

 

 

We have a number of customers that have been migrated to Teams. Teams is really still half-baked and it's impacting on their business being unable to communicate with their clients. It's all good and well having new apps but really not giving users who pay you the choice to go back to a way of working that doesn't impact on their business is not ok. To the Microsoft Teams team, please remember your clients do business and if you make decisions on their behalf that results in loss of communication that is not ok. Give them the choice to roll-back.

@8b-admin   This just happened to us today - the coexistance mode is locked to Teams Only and the SFB add-in for Outlook is gone.  What did you do to set up the audio conferencing to enable customers to still join as SfB users?  Our customers have not migrated to Teams.  

You can't, once your Teams only you can only start meetings in Teams, they can join via Chrome / Edge if they don't have Teams on their end.

@Chris WebbI raised a support ticket with Microsoft and after a lot of 'to and fro' I managed to get them to reverse it and set it to co-existence mode. I have now got SfB back again, yippee! Teams does not work well for me. Drove me bonkers. I had to resort to another web meeting application. 

Yeah, I was about to say, Microsoft can reverse it under request. But once they switch it, you cannot do anything about it on your end!

@Fabio Pergola We are experiencing the same issue. We got upgraded 3 days ago, and now our VC endpoints can't login to S4B anymore. We have several big customers that insist on using S4B, they have the on premise solution, so they will be using skype for a while to come. 

 

So now we have our nice big meeting rooms with PTZ camera's, boundary microphones, ceiling speakers etc, and all we can do is sit around one laptop to join the meeting. It's unprofessional.

 

In the meantime I have learned that Microsoft could easily accomodate us by activating the coexistence mode, but after spending over an hour with tech support, they still refuse to do that. I have learned from one of our customers that they were able to get their upgrade reversed, and have the coexistence mode activated, but we are a smaller customer to MS, and they will not do that for us. And the fact that they will not do that because we are too small a customer, is not my opinion, it was strongly suggested by tech support. (I think his wording was: Microsoft has decided that for some tenants this will be irreversible)

I was in exactly the same situation. I feel your pain. It really impacted the project I am currently working on and caused me a lot of stress. I think when I explained to MS that I had to resort to using another non Microsoft 3rd party product they changed their mind. Good luck.
The notifications for these upgrades have been out in the wild for over a year now. These upgrades especially for smaller shops should have been in progress a long time ago. You guys need to heed the warning that Skype Online will be completely gone coming up July 31st 2021. There will be no rolling back of any kind then.

Now do I agree with the forced upgrades right now, no, because I don't think Teams is 100% feature parity yet. But I'm just the messenger :) .
That might be, but as I said, our customer is using on premise S4B, and will continue to do so till at least July 2021. They will not revert to other means of VC. And since Microsoft announced that Skype will be end-of-life in July 2021, my opinion is that we should be able to use it until that date. That’s the same reasoning our customer is using, and why they expect us to be available on Skype until that date.
