Hi,

For one of my user, when I try to open the app on windows 10 PC, the screen is just blank white. When I click on the task bar, it says " initialazing".

This is 64 bit OS

I was having the same exact issue.

I fixed it. The computer in my company that was having the issue was way off on time. Set it back to the correct time and was able to logout of the Teams app by right click on the bottom right task bar, then click Logout. Then open it agian and it came up. 

Unfortunately, that is not the case with our PC's. Everything is up to date and we are still experiencing issues logging into the Teams App.

Our new VP is having the same thing happen to him when he logs onto Teams. Nothing is there and all content and discussions are missing. Please help on how to resolve the issue.

I was having the same issue and was able to resolve with the following steps.

 

  1. Navigate to the Teams icon in the lower right portion of the task bar
  2. Right click on the Teams icon and quit
  3. Once you verify that Microsoft Teams has quit from the task manager, re-open the appliction.

That was all I had to do. If I closed Microsoft Teams from the application icon in the normal task bar it didn't fully close and next time I launched Microsoft Teams I got a white screen.

 

Hope this works for someone.

I had this happen to me after I changed my computer password.  Turns out Teams needed my new password, but couldn't display the dialog.  By right clicking on the icon and choosing Quit, then restarting as suggested by someone else it prompted me for the password when I restarted and all was good.

I tried to post a bug report to UserVoice, but it has gone unacknowledged.

I would contact support, but that requires a time commitment that I just cannot afford to make right now.

 

Unfortunately, Teams has not made a very good impression at my company. Lots of people are wishing we could go back to Slack!

You should solve the problem running MS Teams app with compatibility mode for Windows 8.

Right click on the desktop icon. Click "Troubleshoot Compatibility". Run the new settings and save them if the app now works.

After dealing with this for several days, I found something that worked for me:

 

Browse to the following location: C:\users\username\appdata\local\microsoft\teams\current and double click the Teams.exe directly.

 

Doing that properly opened the app for me. I created a shortcut right on the desktop and the user was good to go.

 

It seems the default shortcuts in the start menu and the desktop point to update.exe, and it hangs there.

I found a different reason and resolution for the blank screen when using Microsoft Teams on my Lenovo W520 laptop, which has a separate NVIDIA graphics card as well as integrated graphics.

 

I used the NVIDIA Control Panel to force Microsoft Teams to use the integrated graphics card rather than the default NVIDIA card, which incidentally was also the resolution to the same problem I was having with Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Project.

 

Once you've launched the NVIDIA Control Panel,

  • click on "Manage 3D settings"
  • select the "Program Settings" tab
  • click "Add" in "1. Select a program to customise", then browse to the executable, which as someone else pointed out is actually "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Teams\current\Teams.exe" rather than the Update.exe file referenced by the app shortcut
  • select "Integrated graphics" in "2. Select the preferred graphics processor for this program:"
  • click something like "apply" or "save" to complete the task.

I found the answer on my Win 10 was selecting the correct exe.  Goto Start > Search and select the 64-bit exe.Teams Image.png

 

 

I've got this issue on a new Dell Latitude 5990 using Windows 10 x64. I installed the x64 version of Teams (default of course) and upon opening it just shows two white windows. I uninstalled and tried the 32 bit version, no difference. This laptop is only Intel integrated graphics, and is fresh out of the box new. This is the 12th time I've done this on the same hardware in the past couple of months, why this new one is different I do not know. Very frustrating that the Teams app is so buggy.
Found more info, but still no resolution. On this page: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/known-issues there is a method to disable the gpu, interesting that changes the window to blue, but still blank. When I try to launch from the command line with the --disable-gpu flag I also get this error:

Also, on thing to note, the username has a "#" in it, not sure if that causes any issues or not. If it does, kind of stupid Microsoft does not install this app to the program files directly.

Same here.  It just started happening to us.  Older devices are ok.  I called Microsoft Support and they could not find a solution.  Only work around is to close the white GUI, and it will allow you to login.  However, it will not allow the user to create a Teams meeting via outlook, no matter how many times they log out and log back in of Teams as suggested.  Workaround is for the user to do it from Outlook web version.  Still looking for a solution.
