Activity Tab versus Chat Tab

Copper Contributor

Hello, I'm looking for a quick explanation on the difference between the Activity and Chat tabs. I have long list of Chats with many people, but only one of them is showing up in the Activity tab. Can someone explain this? Thanks, Brian

Personal/group chats don't show up under the Activity tab, what you are seeing is the "reaction" notification.

Activity is all recent activity including chat, updated to files and chat and things in teams and channels. Chat is just your chat.. Individual and group.

So if nobody reacted to a message in a chat (like, heart, etc) you won't get an notification in Activity.

But if someone replies to your chat message in a channel then you will see that in Activity.

So the reason that you see the chat with Megan in activity is that she have one of your messages in the chat a like.

In Activity you cansee reactions to your messages, missed called notifications, when you are mentioned in a chat.

So is there no way to force personal chat messages to also show under Activity?  The reason this is desirable is because it can be set to "Unread Only" and it stays that way.  If you filter the Chat window by "Unread" it goes away as soon as you switch to something else and come back in.  The chat window is horribly cluttered and is visual overload.  I want to see everything not seen/responded to, and then have it disappear from my field of view.  Unless I go looking for it.
