Last week, Microsoft Teams became generally available to Office 365 business users. Today we’re making Teams available in Office 365 Education, free for faculty, staff and students. We’re thrilled by the enthusiasm for Teams in the education community and look forward to seeing how customers build Teams into the way they collaborate every day.

Microsoft Teams is the chat-based workspace in Office 365 Education. Teams brings people, conversations and content—along with the tools schools need—together in one place so they can easily collaborate to achieve more. Because it’s built on Office 365, faculty, teachers and students benefit from integration with their familiar Office 365 apps and services. It delivers enterprise-grade security and compliance, and is extensible and customizable to fit the needs of every team.

Teams is available to education customers as part of the Office 365 Education suite licensing: Education, Education Plus and Education E5, as well as existing Education E3 suites.

Turn on Microsoft Teams today

Starting today, administrators can enable Microsoft Teams for their institutions through the Office 365 admin center. Although Teams is off by default, IT admins can easily configure access at the license level for Faculty & Staff and/or Students.

We recommend that IT admins enable Microsoft Teams and begin using it now within their IT organization; and with targeted groups of faculty, staff, teachers, and higher-education students.

The link for Microsoft Virtual Academy (https://aka.ms/microsoft-teams-readiness) says that the course has been retired and that there are no replacements available.

@Scott Ladewig thank you for flagging! I've updated the post to include a new video for deploying and operating Microsoft Teams.

Any plans on making Teams usable by mixed groups? The main ones they come to mind:

- As a tool for university alumni and current students to interact (my university uses slack and a complex 1st-party solution, but Teams would be an awesome choice for getting alumni--especially in Enterprise to engage together and with students).

- As a tool for interacting with friends at other companies for cross-company collaboration or just keeping up

- As a single stop shop for business and personal communication. If it keeps building a little in the fun, I'd rather just use Teams during the day to keep up with my wife instead of needing to have messenger open just for that purpose. Heck, in the long run, you might have some people--especially in business--who might kill for SMS integration.

Do anyone else experiencing troubles when signing in to Teams in edu tenants?

I've enabled it with the Admin center's main switch (under Services & add-ins) about 20 hours ago, also assigned licenses for some users, but everyone in any browser having a:

- "Sorry, but we’re having trouble signing you in. We received a bad request." message

- "AADSTS70001: Application '5e3ce6c0-2b1f-4285-8d4b-75ee78787346' is disabled." as additional info

@Raanah Amjadi: is it a staged rollout for Education subscribers and I'm just not patient enough, or should I open a service request?

Copper Contributor

Good Morning All,,

We are also experiencing problems signing in. Activated Teams with the Admin console for testing, waited 24 hours just in case. We get a notification:

"Sorry, but we're having troubles signing you in. We received a bad request."

Additional technical information:
Correlation ID: ebb34cf0-557c-4083-b1d3-4ae1f846a07a
Timestamp: 2017-03-24 14:58:42Z
AADSTS70001: Application '5e3ce6c0-2b1f-4285-8d4b-75ee78787346' is disabled

Enabled for faculty and staff. Currently working with O365 helpdesk and should be getting back to me early today.

Any suggestions?

Thank you all!

We have Teams enabled, and the app tile shows up on a user's portal.microsoft.com home page so it seems to be activated, but when we click the tile we get redirected to the "You're Missing Out!" page (https://teams.microsoft.com/_#/licenseError?errorCode=TeamsDisabledForTenantForbidden), so it seems like something is stuck (or the tile was added too early)

Question:

This link says education license will not grant access to MS Teams: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/How-do-I-get-access-to-Microsoft-Teams-fc7f1634-abd3-4f26-a...

This link, under Teams Administration, 3rd drop down (...for Education and Government customers), states education license will grant access: https://support.office.com/en-US/article/Frequently-asked-questions-about-Microsoft-Teams-%E2%80%93-...

Clarification is being requested!

Thanks!

@Zoltan Bagyon @Rogelio Lopez thanks for flagging the issue. Have you tried ensuring all Microsoft Teams URLs are white listed to get past your instiution's firewall or proxy? You can find more information on how to do so here: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Office-365-URLs-and-IP-address-ranges-8548a211-3fe7-47cb-ab...

Steel Contributor

@Raanah Amjadi thanks for the reply - the answer is yes, so it's certainly not a firewall/proxy issue, and it happens on any network.

Copper Contributor

@Raanah Amjadi Yes, all are whitelisted.

Microsoft

@Matthew Sheets thanks so much for sharing those insights! Great to see how you're thinking about using Teams to collaborate and stay connected with different groups in your community. Earlier this month, we shared that we're targeting to deliver guest access capabilities in June. Guest access will make many of those scenarios possible.

It would be great if you could add your thoughts and comments to our user feedback site: https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com. I'm sure the Teams team would love to hear how you're thinking about using the product. You can also keep track of your suggestions becoming a reality in Teams with User Voice.

Thanks again!

Hello,

is it possible to add SharePoint?

Regards,Ericteam.png

Is there any plan in the nearest future that Microsofoft team can be Used for a real classroom  training Scenerio ?

If you're getting the TeamsDisabledForTenantForbidden error then chances are its just a iming thing. It took about 2 hours from enlabing and inviting a guest to get past that error for me.

See my notes here - https://ucgeek.co/2017/09/guest-access-microsoft-teams/

Hope that helps.

Hi all,

I have registered an account in the MS Teams via my corporate email but I cannot log in because of the following issue:

"Sorry, but we’re having trouble signing you in.

AADSTS7000112: Application '5e3ce6c0-2b1f-4285-8d4b-75ee78787346'(Microsoft Teams Web Client) is disabled."
I tried to change networks, browsers, and even laptops. Nothing helps. Could you please help with this issue?

Thank you in advance!
