Have a way to use Microsoft Stream to upload videos, mark them as public and be able to share them on external sites with a simple embed page.
It's been added to our backlog as approved. Can't share any timing yet but we will keep in touch.
Staff, where is the answer about the old issue public sharing videos? I need test this function like demostrated on Microsoft stream video portal.
Another doubht... On stream plataform, How we can restore a deleted video?
Hi Staff vishal, any update on this feature?
@Martijn, no updates as of now. We will keep you posted as soon as we are able to share more specifics.
@vishal thanks, perhaps another suggestion to put it on a roadmap like: http://fasttrack.microsoft.com/roadmap
Would love to hear an update for this or if I should just plan on using an alternative solution. The lack of any sort of timeline makes me very nervous waiting on this.
Ideally we would like the ability to share / embed a video in an external environment WITHOUT the need for any user authentication. Imagine an internal user sees a video on Stream that they think their client would be interested in seeing -- we need the simplest possible way for that user to share, in order to encourage that sharing. Of course, we'd need to identify individual videos as being shareable externally or not, so that the "external share" option would simply not be available in some cases.
One possible solution would be to have a field that stores an external link to the video, e.g. a YouTube link, that users could use to share. Not as pretty, but still effective.
@sdbyrd Thanks for your message and we definitely appreciate your concern. This is an imporant feature that is on our roadmap and we will be implementing it. However at this time its unlikely to land in the next couple of months. It would be great to sync up with a meeting to discuss your requirements and we can discuss this in more detail. If you would like to set up a meeting and please direct message me your email and I can set up time.
Our org would like to embed individual Stream videos on an HTML page in our DNN/Evoq web CMS. It's critical that we can create 'no authentication required' embed codes for each Stream video.
I will lend my support to this thread. Having a public option without authentication would allows to move content from other providers. This way, we can embed an iframe in our learning management and CRM systems that can play the video. We should be able to lock this functionality down, however, and only be able to permit it on the channels we select.
Could be great as many users ask to.
I am in a process of sorting out the mess with our internal and external video. Was happy to find stream, saw the option to make video public in every single video and on stream homepage among feature. But now I have to crawl over blogs and forums to see that it is not actualy a feature. Disapointed. Any updates when it will be available?
Without this stream is a no go.
Created videos, built channels, etc. Went to share my training videos with clients, only to find there is no external sharing...as advertised. Frustrated.
How hard can it be to give us the option of making our videos public? Give us the option now and we can talk about features of the public vidoes behavior and options later.
Our clients also want to be able to use this to provide external facing vcideo in some form.
We think that this wouldn't be sharing the whole portal; instead channels or individual videos should be sharable and the sharing interface and options should closely match those available in Onedrive for Business and SharePoint. This should include onward sharable and restrcited links, authenticated users, share lease (expire the link after a period of time) and an option to add comments (equivalent to an editable link, but without the ability to change the video, just to add comments).
I too think having a single platform for video presentation would be important. All the same reasons previously given public and private invitations to external people. For external people, it would be good to have an option to set a link to expire. This is an awesome solution for internal videos and will definitely be used a lot.
So you show the "Public" option in your video but don't deliver it?! Why wouldn't I just use YouTube or some other tool to share videos both internally and externally? It's been 12 months now since this thread was started. It's time to deliver.
Do we have a rough ETA on this feature yet? (next quarter, by end of 2017, next year)
As a smallish non-profit, Stream has almost no value for us at all without the ability to share videos publically. We don't really need to share videos between employees, but rather with our volunteers and partner organizations. We currently use Youtube and Vimeo, but if Stream becomes well integrated with Office 365 then I can see us moving more of our videos there.
There needs to be away for external users to view videos. Whether it is a Channel or Group setting, or simply a option to get a link or embed code that does not require authentication to view a video.
In education sector (at least in Finland) the idea of digitalization is about sharing and collaborating across any border. And every time we have to find another way due to the restriction... :-(
We are a video production company so video is at the core of our business. We need the ability to share rough cuts and other videos with external users and our clients for approvals, review, etc.
We currently use Vimeo for this purpose. The ability to set a custom password to access the video's webpage works perfectly for our needs.
Plus one. I need this capability to compete with BrightCove in the Government arena.
Thank you, I have been converted from Mix and the public embedding was available there and now it is not available here, making all of our work completely inaccessible from our clients. This is a problem as it was marketed as being available as view only.
When is this feature going to be available? I will need to understand whether we need to recreate our videos with another service.
This is a critical need now for educators. I have been using office mix and was able to share outside of my organization. Now that we are being forced off of office.mix.com and onto stream, I need this feature now more than ever. If Microsoft cannot fix this then I'll be forced to use YouTube's unlisted video option.
totally need this to happen!
I second the idea of of sharing a Stream Video with non o365 users. I also want it to be shared with an expiration timestamp so that the link/access would expire after given time. This scenario could help business cases where as a company you are sharing some videos with a potential buyer and lets say deal fell apart and your shared videos link would expire after sometime. Hence you dont need to go and un-share/revoke permissions etc.
Important facets (to us) for a public video sharing function:
Are we able to have an update please? It has been many months since it was on the approved list.
Without public accessible videos without the need to have an o365 account, the product is too limited for use and most of us would like to know some sort of indication of timeline, so we know whether to look at other products. You may be doing your product more harm than good without a solid response.
