So far the Launcher team have done a really great job enhancing and improving Launcher over the time I have been on the beta program. Keep up the great job you are doing.

Great to see the UI refinements!

Great to see a huge update!

Some questions:

* I think it would be cool if we could choose the font. I really prefer Segoe over Roboto

* The color of my notification badges changed from red to blue- is this intended? Also an option to select the color (or just apply the accent color) would be great

Icon size is too big need the previous version icon size

I really like the new weather widget , a lot more detail.  One issue I have is long pressing an icon to edit does not work. It pops up while long pressing, but when you let go, it dissappears so you can't say, edit the icon or anything. I restarted my phone  but the issue remains. Another issue is when I try to set the dock to transparent, it won't stay transparent

First of all thanks for the update.

But, personally I don't like the new font.
-> Could you add the possibility to select the font ?
Also, the folder view has now changed to only 3 columns from 4. I don't like this too
-> Could you please make this a setting ?

Love the refinements. Thanks.

However, can we have the option to choose a font. I simply prefer Segoe.

Also the option to remove the bar that separates the time and the weather.

Lastly, great addition to the weather widget but could you also add RealFeel?

Hey @Thamarai88, thanks for your feedback. We are sorry that you run into this issue. Can you help provide a few pieces of information so we can understand things better?

  • How many rows and columns do you have on your home screen?
  • What's your previous icon size? And what's your current icon size after upgrading to the latest beta build? (You can go to Launcher Settings > Personalization > Home screen > Customize app icons and layout to find out your icon size)
  • What's your device model?

Thank you!

Update installed! Love the UI refinements! I really like the new font size selector. Would like to see the same added to the app drawer.

I'd still like to see more work done to the window animations. Animations still look pretty rough.

Very nice update apart from the following:

- Changing font to Roboto is very bad ergonomically. Segoe is easier to read especially on smaller screens and in less than ideal lighting conditions. Suggestion: stick with Segoe.

- Detailed weather shows 12h clock even when the user has selected in 'General Setttings' 24h clock format.

New notifications is a welcome improvement. New search box shapes also a nice touch.

Hi @weizhong_xue

I'm using vivo vivo v9 mobile

4 column and 6 rows previously used this settings only. Previous version looks good. But after update icons are bigger.

It's a beautiful launcher and a great update 👍. Keep up the good work folks!

Updated to 5.3.0 last night, here are my thoughts:

1. Please use °C/°F for weather temperature, you can choose small C/F but don't skip them.

2. I much prefer v5.2's bigger font for the time widget, it was clean and elegant. Can we get an option for changing the font?

Contributor

Great update! Thank you! Really like the refinements in settings.

To all those that don't like the icon size... Just go into the launcher settings and change it!

The widgets look great! Keep.up the good work! (I personally like the decider line in the widget as well as the font size)

I like that you can add the background to the dock now as well.

Seriously, you devs are doing great! No complaints here!

Also... Since people are weighing in on the animations. Mine are smooth on the Galaxy S8+. Not seeing how people say they are "rough". Like I said, keep up the good work.

Hi there to all and to @weizhong_xue

I too am having issues with the new font and icon size :(

I only have 3 options now when before we had a slider, and sometimes i used to think that even the bigger were small...

So my issues right now is that the font and icons are too small!

I have a Xiaomi Mi 8, with 6 rows and 6 columns, i believe i had the larger icon settings before and after upgrading i still have the large icon setting, but the icons are very small!

I think we need more options than just these three and i also agree with some users so that we could choose a font type - why not Segoe UI or Calibri?

Thanks!

I don't mind the changes, except for the biggest issue: the icons have now gotten much larger than before.

I'm on a Essential phone, running Android 9, and prior to the recent update, I was able to have much smaller icons on both the primary launch screen as well as within the group of apps. I've checked all my settings and nothing has been changed in the default system panel, so am confused why the icons are larger now than before.

Occasional Contributor

For the records, I'm using 5 columns by 7 rows - when I expanded to make it 5 columns by 9 rows (and reset the dock icons to look like the home page icons) the icons shrunk back to where I think they used to be.

I think! Having the icon size change based on an update is...less than ideal.

Occasional Contributor

All these changes sound great except for the font regressing back to Roboto. Segoe is the most attractive UI font I've ever used. In fact, I think it's one of the most beautiful san serifs, period. Oh well, I guess this is for UI consistency with Android.

Occasional Contributor

Hey, great job. The improvements in the appearance of the dock and with home screen grid and widget resizing issues are significant. Also, the new weather page is much nicer looking. This is nice!

Occasional Contributor

Changing from a red to blue notification dot overlay doesn't really make it noticeable anymore.  The majority of app icons just happen to be blue too...Outlook mail, Outlook calendar, Edge shortcuts, Skype and Google's Messages to name a few.

Got an update this morning and now I can't swipe up to open the dock, so can't access launcher settings ect. Can't even get in to find version number . Feedback also left on Google +

Senior Member

Great 5.3.0 upgrade! However, I find it very difficult to swipe up the dock without always clicking on the apps. Can't it be done effortlessly? Any trick around it? Otherwise, kindly fix. Gracias!

Contributor

I'm liking every single one of the changes. Especially pulling the icons away from The edge a bit (great for S8, S9, S10 users).

Not sure why some complain of icons being too large and some complain it's too small.... Wierd

What devices are you all having issues on the swipe up to open dock? No issues here on the Galaxy S8+ running Android 8.0

Occasional Contributor

I have a Galaxy Note 9 ,and after solution to settings found on Google + page, I managed to get a screen shot of the build number. I got another update maybe an hour and a half ago that didn't fix it, so that's 2 updates I got today already.

Having issue with the swipe up dock and even the page indicator is missing. Honor View 10, Android P.

Love the New UX. Also I like the new look on the Dock. You guys should add similar designs across the whole launcher.

Contributor

@Lroyny1

No issues here at all with the dock handle and swipe up for dock not working on my Galaxy S8+.

If you notice the page indicator appears when you swipe between pages while the dock handle fades out. Then after having swiped to the next page the dock handle reappears.

I thought this was intentional, at least I'm pretty sure it is, which I like.

Occasional Contributor

@Chef31684  I just set the swipe up gesture in settings to expand the dock.. It'll work for now I guess .

I run the launcher in Vertical Mode. Once I used the "two fingers up" gesture to lift the Dock, I was all set.

Occasional Contributor

@weizhong_xue any chance you could weigh in on some of these issues instead of having to speculate if they are bugs or not?

Occasional Visitor

First Update, so far, that I didn’t like:

 - Segoe UI font looked much better

 - previous (and larger) weather widget looked better on a spacious screen

 - Icons are top large all of a sudden

 - don't like the blue (and huge) badge counts

Make these changes at least optional, please!

Occasional Contributor

Idea: In app drawer settings, add the option to use an app drawer background that's similar to the background on the new weather page. It looks really nice, especially in light theme.

The notification badges are spotty with the numbers. Some work and some apps don't. This needs fixing. Also colour options.

"Work profile customers can now get access to their work apps"

Not sure if this is working. I click on the cog wheel from the tray, tap the Microsoft logos next to my name, and select Office 365 "Sign in", select my work account, and I am prompted to enroll, which my device already is. My device is a Note 9 running Pie and has both personal and work profiles. Since I am the Global Administrator of our Office 365/Azure/Intune tenants I understand what restrictions are applied and I do not see any that would affect this behavior. I have already approved the Microsoft Launcher for use from our Google Play Store. Can the Microsoft Launcher coexist/work with two profiles, one being personal and one work? If so, what steps are needed to allow this to access both?

New Contributor

You've all done a great job with this update! It makes MSFT Launcher look much cleaner in my phone.

I'm going to leave a bit of feedback on the Time/Weather widget:

  • The widget got smaller, and it makes it harder to look at the time and weather with just a glance. A bigger size, size adaptability, or an option to change it would be appreciated.
  • The option to switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius is gone. I believe this feature is essential, as, though I use the Launcher in the English-US language, I live in Mexico, and we use Celsius, like much of the world.

Thank you for reading my comment.

I left the beta after 5.3, downgraded to 5.2.1, and disabled automatic updates in the Play Store.

The new margins on the home screen make it ugly and unusable. Not all of us have a Galaxy.

Senior Member

Hi folks...

I have now figured out swiping up dock without 'accidentally' clicking on an icon. Just swipe up from the dock arrow.

For those complaining about the date and weather fonts being to small, here's a solution. Just do a widget resize.

Contributor

@julian-sl the option to switch between C° and F° is still there. After adding the widget tap and hold on the widget and select settings. The widget settings page will come up and you will be able to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit.

Regular Visitor

Todo genial. Pero las señales de notificaciones cuando solo es el punto es muy grande. Me gusta la versión anterior, el punto era más pequeño.

Senior Member

@julian-sl just do a widget resize on the date and weather

I have lost my ability to get notifications on pc.

I used to have it when cortana was a separate app but now there's a bit of a mess.

Has any one worked around the region lock in cortana and now has all android notifications on their pc? This is the problem with hacking. Sometimes you get things to work just right then you move to a new phone and suddenly nothing works.

My launcher is invisible (it works flawlessly). Since I bought a surface, the shared timeline is now important to me I can now pickup where I left off using three devices

Contributor

@booddude I think the update just now reverted the margin back to the old ones. Unfortunately it also reverted the badges back to the small red dots from the beautiful blue as well.

Occasional Contributor

@Chef31684 it did, but if you modify any of the dock settings, it will revert to having the new margins

Occasional Visitor

Why switching from Segoe UI to horrid Roboto? I mean, it looks even ugly enough on Android, and It cannot be switched. Please reconsider at least to add an option to choose between fonts.
