Nicely done #MSIgnite!

Excellent. I'm super excited, and made sure to get a spouse pass too! :)

Very fun! Harry Potter too? Or just what's mentioned above?

Can't wait!  Should be a great way to recover from the week of learning!

@Amy, Harry Potter land spans both parks :)

I hope that Universal gave MS a discount for specifically mentioning their new attractions in the press release, rather than Harry Potter which are a lot more popular. ;-)

I visited Universal Orlando earlier this year and that Kong attraction was a lot of fun.

Awesome, I was just thinking of booking a visit to at least one of the parks while I'm in Orlando :)

Yep, My wife was going to spend the week going to the parks. This is a pass she doesn't have to get, or can at least get a lesser one.

It will be like 2005 all over again.

Very cool, unfortunately I will not be attending, even though I've budgeted everything for this trip (from Europe).

It's just too much of a hassle traveling to the US currently and I therefore changed my mind and canceled my attendance.

Will there be an Ignite for Europe this year?

This is  getting better and better!!!

@Ivan Unger - so sorry to hear about that.  We will be posting the sessions and decks in the Tech Community and we are working on a great streaming plan, so hopefully you can still experience Microsoft Ignite at least digitally.  There are no Microsoft Ignites in Europe; we go on the road (around the world) with the Microsoft Tech Summits, so hopefully you can make one of those in the coming year.  We have not launched the new cities/countries, but they will be coming soon.  You can check here:  https://www.microsoft.com/techsummit

Is there going to be an age requirment for this years celebration?

Occasional Contributor

Doubt it...I've been to Universal twice before with TechEd and kids have been allowed in.

Community Manager

Hogwarts is included @Amy Dolzine :)

This is great!  Thank you, Microsoft!  :)

To confirm @Nick Brattoli's comment above, is this open to guests if we purchase the guest celebration pass?

Regular Visitor

nice! sounds better than last year in Atlanta ;-) greetings from Amsterdam...

This would be even better if the Haunted Houses were open too. Universal's Halloween Horror Nights is normally going on at night this time September - October.

Occasional Contributor

Very nice I am getting really excited for Ignite!

This will be my first time attending Ignite. This is going to be amazing!

Can a companion pass be added later?

Community Manager

You can purchase an attendee celebration companion pass for $150 through the registration site. Simply log back in and under the passes section you are able to edit your selections and add in the pass type.

Note, holders of the companion pass must be at least 21 years old.

Any word on entertainment?  It was different year in Atlanta with the multiple local bands in different parts of the park.  Universal has a large ampitheater stage that could support a major national band.

@Frederick Doradodozens of rides and attractions isn't enough for you? Considering the cost of buying out the two theme parks for an evening I wouldn't expect MS to spend any $$ on a music act.

Occasional Contributor

@Kevin Crossman, not all attendees like going on thrill rides.  Some won't be able to ride due to physical limitations.  Don't you think it would be nice to have something to entertain these people too?  I really enjoyed the live band karaoke in Atlanta.

No worries! MS always does their best to cater to everyone and make sure everyone is entertained and has a great time. Obviously, it is not easy and possible to please every single person but we can surely appreciate the efforts especially on a massive scale as Ignite.

I wasn't talking about just thrill rides @Frederick Dorado.  Universal has lots of "tamer" attractions/rides.

I guess my point was that these Universal parks are pretty popular destinations and the park and it's attractions should be more than enough fun for the attendees, without thinking that MS has to also provide an A-name band.

Occasional Contributor

@Kevin Crossman, I've been to the Universal parks dozens of times.  (My BiL works there and we we get in for free.)  Going on the rides is not that big of a deal for me.  I don't have an issue if MS doesn't provide an A-name band; I was more curious than anything else.  After four days of attending sessions, it would be nice to have a relaxing place to listen to a good band perform.  It will be a good time in any case.

There are a few of us going to the Haunted Houses on the Saturday night....

New Contributor

Just for clarification, if the companion pass holder has to be 21 or older does that mean children won't be allowed in this year?  Or that they don't need a pass to accompany one of us?

Community Manager

Attendees must be at least 21 years of age.

This is the ad. I'm wondeing how do you actually sign-up and get the pass. Or does every attendee get to attend by default?

@annachu do we get access to American Horror Stories #agggghhhhhhhh!!!!!

Occasional Contributor

Looking forward to it - my first "Teched" (old school and I've always wanted to go to Teched) and my first Theme park experience.

Out of curiosity what other events  else does the guest pass cover?

Occasional Contributor

Looking forward to a great time at Ignite with all my closest Microsoft friends!!

Im confused on this. So I will be attending the ignite event in Sept in Orlando. Does my pass to ignite get me into Universal Studios or will I have to purchase a pass? Also would my wife have to purchase a pass or is she covered? It doesnt really say what is included it just says come join us at Universal Studios that night. Does anyone know for sure? Thanks

You get the celebration pass for yourself for having a ticket. If you also got a companion pass, your wife can come.

Occasional Contributor

Yes, only your wife, not your husband! @Nick Brattoli

First time heading to Ignite. Pumped!

Occasional Contributor

@Paul Licatatiso, the Thursday event is the Ingite Attendee's party.  Microsoft is renting out all of Universal Orlando and Universal Island of Adventure for the party; it will be closed to the public.  The "pass" to the party is included with your Ignite registration.  In addition, you can purchase one "companion pass" to the party.  Your companion has to be 21 or older.  You'll get the pass when you pick up your registration packet and ID badge.  DO NOT LOSE THE PASS!!  If you do, you'll need to pay for the replacement.  If you want to go to the Universal theme parks any other time, you would need to buy tickets separately.  I hope this clears things up.

Occasional Contributor

@Andy Helsby, the guest pass to the Thursday night attendee's party gets your guest (who must be at least 21) into the party.  All food and drinks (including adult beverages) are provided at no cost.  Since Microsoft is renting both parks, it will just be Ignite attendees and their guests, which should significantly cut down on lines for the rides and attractions.  If you get in early enough on Sunday, be sure to go to one of the Ignite 101 sessions.  They're very helpful for first time attendees.  Enjoy your first "TechEd" experience!!

Community Manager

Thank you @Frederick Dorado!  Couldn't have put it better myself.

New Contributor

@Frederick Dorado Thanks for the response.  It was a huge help.  By chance do you know how much a "companion pass" costs and how many we can purchase?

Thank You

Occasional Contributor

@Paul Licatatiso, companion passes are $150 and can be purchased by going back into your registration and expand the Passes section.  There's a check box at the bottom of the page to add it.  They are first come, first served so you don't want to wait too long to add it.

New Contributor

@Frederick Dorado Wow $150!  That must be some party.  Thanks for the info.  I see on the site where I can purchase the companion site.  Since you seem like an expert on this I have one last question.  I have a co worker who is also going, if he chooses not to go to the thursday night celebration would I be able to use his free pass for my wife or would they require identification per pass?

Thanks Again

Occasional Contributor

You bet.

Occasional Contributor

@Paul Licatatiso, a few years ago, when TechEd was in Houston, my wife was able to use a co-worker's party pass without issue.  Everyone needed to have ID to show they were over 21.  You won't need your Ignite badge to get into the party.

New Contributor

@Frederick DoradoThanks for your help!
