To help you deploy Microsoft 365 Enterprise in your organization, the Deployment Guide splits the guidance into:

  • The foundation infrastructure, which steps you through six phases to build out networking, identity, and security and your managed Windows 10 Enterprise devices with Office 365 ProPlus.

  • The key productivity workloads and scenarios that build upon the foundation infrastructure and empower your users to creatively collaborate in a secure environment.

The phases of the foundation infrastructure provide a roadmap with ordered steps and exit criteria. However, there are many ways to deploy these phases, depending on your existing infrastructure and plans for rolling out new capabilities, such as device and app management.

The new Deployment strategies article describes a set of approaches to the end-to-end configuration and rollout of all six phases. For example:

  • You can deploy each phase in serial, not starting the next phase until you’ve completed the current phase.
  • You can do them in parallel, starting the next phase during the rollout of the previous one, which saves time in the end-to-end deployment.
  • For smaller organizations, you can do all the configuration of the infrastructure up front, and then roll out all six phases at one time to your organization.

Here’s an example of a parallel deployment strategy, in which configuration and pilot rollout is initiated while the previous phase is being rolled out to the rest of your organization.

Of course, you can deploy the foundation layers of your Microsoft 365 Enterprise deployment in the way that best suits your organization. But if you need some ideas on how to optimize the end-to-end deployment and start realizing its benefits for your workloads like Teams or Exchange Online, take a look at this new article.

Hoping this helps you get there faster…
