We’ve released the latest version of the Mailbox Role Requirements Calculator which corrects (among other things) the OS locale issue many of you stumbled upon with the first release of the database copy distribution function.

After I click 'Yes'  I am getting below mesg and 'Distribution Sheet' is not working.

Great to have sorted the localization issue. Everything seems to do what it is supposed to. Especially the data distribution with server failure simulation is fantastic to use explaining the boss whats it is all about. Thanks.

@Austin, it sounds like the file you have downloaded became corrupt in some way.  I recommend re-downloading the file.

Ross, the SpecInt description still includes instructions to account for the hypervisor when virtualizing. However, why not process the VirtCPUFactor value in the "what's available" calculations with numSpecRatePDC, numSpecRateSDC and numSpecRateLCS in the Role Requirements sheet?

"Fail Site" or "Fail FSW" buttons would also be nice in the Distribution sheet for demonstration purposes.

I have been using the calculator to try modelling some archive scenarios. As I increase the size of the personal archive, no apparent change occurs in the IOPS, CPU Utilization, RAM or the number of transaction logs. Is this a bug or am I misunderstanding the effect that adding a personal mailbox would have - I would have expected extra connections, so more RAM and IOPS while the archive is being accessed and items are being archived.

I would also like to have the option to have a different number of copies of the personal archive to the main mailbox database. e.g. a single copy of the database at my main site and a copy at the DR site, as opposed to three or four copies of the main database.  Is this achievable with the current version of the calculator - I think I can do it by putting the personal archive database into a different DAG - and wouldn't I have to be able to do this if I were to put the archive database on cheaper storage - or am I misunderstanding how personal archives work?

Is there a deep dive for any of the archive stuff so that I can try and get a better understanding of how the data transfers between archive and main mailbox take place and what I am likely to have to simulate if the calculator does not cater for anything but one archive copy for each main mailbox copy.

Micro issue - under the Role Requirements sheet, the /Server header in the  Database Copy Configuration has a leading space, i just have some excel sheets linked to the calculator and it creates some #REF stuff..

Exchange 2010 SP1 added the ability to put Personal Archives into a separate database, but when I use the calculator, I think it assumes that I will be placing the archive mailbox in the same database as the regular mailbox.  How do I model my database requirements for Personal Archives if I want to place those mailboxes in separate databases?

I have the same problem as "Austin" and I have it had with the old version also. I can open it the first time, but soon as I open it the second time it's gone...

Any Ideas?

I'm having the same problem as Austin, Duke and Sam - redownloading the file does not help.  Any ideas?  Using Office 2010.

Having same issue of "unreadable content in the file" when opening. Click Yes to recover and open the file, allow Editing, then Enable Content, all the spreadsheets show up misaligned and with messed up references.
