Published Sep 22 2011 03:23 PM 2,961 Views

Earlier today the Exchange CXP team released Update Rollup 5 for Exchange Server 2007 SP3 to the Download Center.

This update contains a number of customer-reported and internally found issues since the release of RU4. See 'KB 2602324: Description of Update Rollup 5 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 3' for more details.

We would like to specifically call out the following fixes which are included in this release:

  • DST: New updates for August DST - Exchange 2007
  • 2536695 "Some items cannot be deleted" error message when you try to delete or modify an email message in a public folder in an Exchange Server 2007 environment
  • 2292150 A deleted hyperlink remains in the HTML source of an email message if you create the email message by using OWA in an Exchange Server 2007 environment (article not yet live)

General Notes:

  • For DST Changes: http://www.microsoft.com/time
  • Update Rollup 6 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 3 is currently scheduled to release in April 2012. This will be in rhythm with next DST changes.

Note for Forefront users: For those of you running Forefront Security for Exchange, be sure you perform these important steps from the command line in the Forefront directory before and after this rollup's installation process. Without these steps, Exchange services for Information Store and Transport will not start after you apply this update. Before installing the update, disable ForeFront by using this command: fscutility /disable. After installing the update, re-enable ForeFront by running fscutility /enable.

Note for Forefront users: We don't really care about you. We decided that you don't deserve a nice, automated setup experience.

Does your Note for Forefront users mean that the update should not be distributed through WSUS if you have Forefront running?

Didn't work well for me. After installing I got massive numbers of EXCDO Event ID 8206 errors and the servers slowed to a crawl. Whenever anyone added a calendar item all users would get Exchange server unavailable messages for about 5 minutes.

I tried for a couple of days to fix by changing permissions and even removing the anti-virus software from the computer, but neither helped. Ended up uninstalling the Rollup and the server immediately went back to normal.

Are there any caveats for installing this in a coexisting evironment of Exchange 2010? If I have modified my OWA URLs will they have to be reset after the rollup is applied on 2007?

After update it seems that everything is working fine. But now I recognized that OWA doesn't work any more. I get a message, that the website cannot be connected. Are there any known issues?

Folko, did you have Owa with a blank page? I didn't understand why Exchange 2007 Sp3 has got this problem. I have a big problem in May for the Rollup 3 (Owa Blank page). I didn't install the Rollup 3 and 4 on my production Enviroment. I will try the Update 5 but if you have problems i'm not sure to apply them.

When updating from SP3 Rollup Pack 3 to this update, Inline Attachments sent from a Mac client (which was resolved as part of Rollup Pack 4) is not fixed. The only reference that I can find of this to date was on another MS forum. Confirmation from the Exchange team on this would be appreciated. Thanks.
