Earlier this month we'd posted about an issue with Outlook 2007's support for Personal Archives, and that a fix has been checked in to the February 2011 Cumulative Update. The Office team has released the Office 2007 Cumulative Update for February 2011, which includes the Outlook 2007 hotfix. The update adds Personal Archives support in Outlook 2007. For more details about the hotfix, see KBA 2475891: Description of the Office Outlook 2007 hotfix package (Outlook-x-none.msp): February 22, 2011.

You can request the hotfix from here, or by clicking the 'View and request hotfix downloads' link in the KBA. You do not require the December 2010 Cumulative Update to install this update.

Note: Office cumulative updates are packaged as separate hotfixes for each Office application. To request updates for other Office 2007 applications, see links for the application in Office 2007 Cumulative Update for February 2011.

For more details about Personal Archives support in Outlook 2007, check out the previous post: Yes Virginia, there is Exchange 2010 archive support in Outlook 2007.

Exchange 2010 documentation has been updated to reflect Outlook 2007 support for Personal Archives.

Is the statement from http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc178996.aspx still true regarding Outlook 2010?

"Personal Archive is available only when you use Outlook 2010 as part of Microsoft Office Professional 2010 or Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 with a volume license."

It's still not very clear about which versions of Outlook support Personal Archive access.

In my scenario, the archive options are available only with no  Exchange profile configured. On IMAP everything is OK. (Outlook 2007 SP2) Is this normal?

@PawZaw: This post is about Exchange 2010's Personal Archives feature. See

Understanding Personal Archives

. You're referring to Outlook's

AutoArchive

feature, which is disabled for Exchange accounts with a personal archive.

I have applied the outlook hotfix to a client that has an archive mailbox and they cannot see it
The version of office is 2007 Standard

I have rebooted the pc after the hotfix, I have re-created the profile both cached and online, I have also created a new archive mailbox and no luck

anyone actually have this working?
Are there particular versions of office required for this?

Thanks

@Scott: That page is from Office 2010 resource kit. It states that Personal Archives support is available in Outlook 2010 in the Volume Licensing versions of Office 2010 Professional Office 2010 Professional Plus.

Office 2010 suite is sold in different "bundles" (SKUs) through retail and volume licensing channels. More details about the apps included in each bundle or SKU can be found in Microsoft Office suites.

A comparison of apps and features in the two Volume Licensing suites can be found in Compare suites available through Volume Licensing.

@PawZaw: Please post in Outlook/Exchange forums or contact support.

@Bharat... Thanks for your response but that doesn't help me to understand and clarify which SKUs/Bundles/Suites officially support Personal Archive access in both Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010. There appears to much confusion and a lot of people wasting time testing different versions only to conclude that Personal Archive support is not available in certain versions. *Please* can you explicitly state which SKUs/Bundles/Suites support Personal Archive access in both Outlook 2007 *and* Outlook 2010? -Scott.

@Scott: Thanks for the feedback - we hear you!

This should clear up any confusion. Please post back if you still have questions.

@Bharat  I'm having an issue with outlook 2007 Standard,
I have 2 different volume license keys and wanted to try them both out to see if there were any issues

I go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftOffice12.0Registration{30120000-0011-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}

and delete the following keys:
DigitalProductID
ProductID

Then I go back and open outlook and I see the archive mailbox
I also get prompted to enter a new key, after entering the key  I choose install now and the archive mailbox is still there. When I close outlook and open it up again it's there but then it disapears

any insights as to why this would be happening?

Thanks

I am running Outlook 2007 (Part of the Small business 2007)
(12.0.6554.5000) SP2 MSO (12.0.6545.5004). I have a volume license for the Small Business Office 2007.

My server is Ex 2010 SP1 RU2. I have applied the hot fix but still no Online-Archive folders appear in Outlook 2007 but I can see them OK in  OWA.

Is outlook 2007 from Small Business supported? - your link is not clear on this.

Thanking you in advance.

@Bharat... Thanks for that link... That's much more precise about what versions are support Personal Archive access... However, it sounds like, if we have Volume Licenses for Office Standard we won't have access to the Personal Archive features... Looking at that page it appears that we would have access if we had avoided Volume Licensing and purchased retail versions of Office Standard... Am I reading that correctly? We pay extra money for Office Volume Licensing and don't have access to Personal Archives? Sigh... -Scott.

@Scott: Yes, you are. We've passed on your feedback to the relevant product group folks.

This is really frustrating. We already have to purchase an enterprise license to use this feature so why did microsoft choose to restrict the client to only some versions? This was one of the features we were really looking forward to when we moved to exchange 2010 and have still not been able to use it. We use 2007 small business and I guess this version is not supported. I am very disapointed with this product right now.
