Announcing support to migrate up to 250K public folders from Exchange On-Premises to Exchange Online

In an earlier post, we announced we were increasing the maximum number of public folders that could be migrated from Exchange Server 2010 to Exchange Online to 250K. We also highlighted in that post that the migration of public folders on Exchange Server 2013 and 2016 were limited to 100K. We’ve been working hard to remove this limitation and we are very pleased to announce today that we now support migrating up to 250K public folders from Exchange On-Premises 2013/2016/2019 to Exchange Online.

What does all this mean to you?

  • Any Exchange On-Premises customer running Exchange 2010/2013/2016/2019 with up to 250K public folders can now migrate them directly to Exchange Online.
Please do check this link for planning migration of public folders to Exchange Online. The current Exchange Online limits can be viewed here. We’ve love to hear your feedback and please feel free to ask any questions via the comments section below. Public folder team

Great news!

"We don't support the migration of public folders to Exchange Online when there are more than 100 unique public folder mailboxes in Exchange Online."

is this limit still valid?

Looking at a migration of an org that has 7TB of data, and to get past the 50GB pr mailbox , we would need more than 100 pf mailboxes in Exo.

@Endre, EXO supports 1000 public folder mailboxes. The note referred in the migration article highlights the limitation of 100 PF mailboxes that can be enabled to server hierarchy.
